About Distant

Imagine yourself diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. How would you see the world? What emotions would you experience? What would your symptoms look like?

Distant aims to answer these questions by putting you in the shoes of someone with Alzheimer's disease. In this first-person 10-minute experience, you will experience some of the symptoms that those with Alzheimer's face every day.

With some simple puzzles and games, you can expect to gain an understanding of:
- The fears
- Auditory hallucinations
- and disorientation
that those with Alzheimer's may suffer from.

You will also gain an understanding of some of the safety precautions that one can take to ensure a safe environment for those with Alzheimer's.

Distant is pretty a pretty simple bare-bone experience; interactive art attempting to describe Alzheimer / dementia. It's not particularly good or game-polished, but as a free, short interactive experience about a difficult to represent and important topic, I'm giving it a thumbs up.

Barely a game, more informative about Alzheimer. It's ok for free.

Kind of hits different. It's sad but I feel enriched having this perspective and somewhat comforted to know how I should act and what to do.

Genuinely got jumpscared by Paranoia, and got hit in the feels in the end. Short but sweet awareness game.

The game doesn't have a lot to teach, but it's good for a little reflection and perhaps empathy; and unfortunately, given the prevalence of Alzheimer's, it deals with things most people will eventually face in their own lives. After completing the "campaign" and going for 100% achievements: The first hidden achievement (
Fearless!
) took me 10 minutes to get; mos…
