Double Cross Dungeon

Considering that this game is on Steam and the requirement is to have a controller (2 CONTROLLERS) is a bit strange to me since it's primarily mouse and keyboard platform, and if you don't own a controller (or 2) you can't even play? Also you need a friend, a wife or a husband too. That's a lot of effort for one game :D Luckily I still own a controller and a husband so I was able to try this one out. This was our verdict: The cards are nice and tarot like with each owning different abilities. The UI is very confusing and all though the pixel graphics fit to the atmosphere they make the game very confusing to look at since there is lot happening in the screen. It does remind me of Vampire Survivors, but this game fails to properly explain rules or even what you need to do during the levels. The idea is sweet, but with the UI, the preparations and all the effort you need to do in order to play, I sadly cannot recommend it during this stage.

Double Cross Dungeon is a small local multiplayer dungeon game built around a really simple idea that I think works quite well. I am exploring the Temple of Nimh with up to three other people, clearing rooms and picking Ancient Cards that make my character stronger as I go. The interesting part is that one of those cards can turn one person into a traitor, so the group can suddenly go from working together to fighting each other. I like that because it gives the normal dungeon crawling setup a little twist without making the whole thing difficult to understand. The card system is probably my favourite part. After clearing a room, I get to choose from cards that can give me better abilities and make my character stronger for the later fights. There is a bit of competition over who gets the cards first, so even before the traitor appears I am paying attention to what everyone else is taking. I like having that small layer of tension because it makes the rewards feel more important than simply getting another random upgrade.
