Compose your very own team of monsters from across the DRAGON QUEST series and engage in thrilling battles against your foes. Recruit monsters from the wild world around you and combine them to synthesize new creatures as you see fit. With over 500 monsters to choose from and a revamped synthesis system to explore, you can mix and match to you heart's content to create your favorite cute critters and dastardly supervillains, as well as brand-new additions to the monstrous roll call.

Story
Psaro is cursed and is unable to harm anything with monster blood. Now, he must become a Monster Wrangler to create an army for battle.
The hunt for high-ranked monsters takes Psaro through the ever-changing seasons of Nadiria and its unique environments, with rivers of bubbling lava, mysterious ancient ruins, and soaring towers of cake. Along the way, Psaro meets the kind-hearted elf, Rose, who joins his adventure to seek out ever-stronger monsters.
The key to Psaro's success lies with synthesis: the ability to combine two monsters and create a stronger offspring. Each new creation brings Psaro one step closer to his goal of becoming the Master of Monsterkind.
(The network mode Online Battles from the console version, where players battle one another in real time, is not included.)

As time passes in Nadiria, so too do the seasons change, with different weather conditions tempting new monsters out of hiding and revealing paths to undiscovered areas. The Circles of Nadiria are sure to provide a fresh experience every time you visit.
- Over 500 Unique Monsters
With such varied environments to explore, you can expect them to be inhabited by a plethora of monsters. While many can be recruited in battle, occasionally a defeated monster will ask to join your team of its own accord. Befriend as many monsters as you can, then combine them to synthesize new creatures and build a unique party to your exact liking.
- Enjoy All the DLC from the Console Version
The Steam® version includes the DLC packs from the console version: the Mole Hole, Coach Joe's Dungeon Gym and Treasure Trunks. Make the most of their unique features to enhance your adventure.
- Test Your Might in Quickfire Contests
Register your team for the network mode Quickfire Contests to participate in automated battles against the party data of 30 other players. Once a day you can earn stat-boosting items as a prize, and the monsters from any team you defeat will be added to your roster (up to rank B monsters only).

I haven't played a DQM game in like 20 years so this was a nice nostalgia trip. The synthesis system still BTFO standard leveling evolution of other creature collectors. The Unity graphics were jarring at first but quickly grew on me. The story isn't the best but the voice acting is kinda good so it's worth not skipping cutscenes and embracing the cheesiness. An excellent choice even if you're not a big fan of turn-based. There's this dude named Mike9k1 who is singlehandedly carrying the mod scene for this game on his back. Everything that I felt iffy about, he made a mod to remedy it. With his QOL mods I got about 80 hours out of it filling out the monsterpedia and everything else. If you attempt to 100% this vanilla and blind I imagine you will spend like 400 hours pulling your hair out.2 found this helpful

This is a flawed game, and I want to recognise that at the start even though I'm rating it positively. The story parallels Dragon Quest IV(specifically the DS version) for a large portion of the game, and if you are a fan of the series you will recognise many moments from that game. You will also notice when it deviates. The story and dialogue in this game are passable, but nothing to write home about. There are some frustrating interactions, and a few loose ends that are never tied up. Regardless, it was still enough to make progression feel somewhat natural. There is an extra area and a few extra boss fights after the main game ending, but everything beyond that is a bit open ended. There's nothing to note whether you have actually done everything there is to do, outside of checking if you have every monster. The combat and traversal are pretty basic, and never really evolve as the game progresses. This is mostly ok until you have your party ranked and levelled, and all areas unlocked. There is no expedited traversal mechanic outside of fast travel, and while this is helpful for quickly reaching certain areas, it did become a bit tedious late game trying to reach areas with no zo…
This franchise has a special place in my heart so I am probably biased. A big fan of the original Game Boy/Color Dragon Warrior Monsters games. I replayed them multiple times. The best part is the breeding/synthesis. Knowing that certain combos of monsters create special, new monsters that can only be put together that way is the whole allure of the game. The story here is very blah, but I got this game on sale for $10, and almost bought it when it came out for $40 but was deterred by all the negative reviews of it on Steam as compared to Switch. For $10, this game is a borderline must buy if you like the genre.
if you like monster collection games and Dragon quest this game blends both well
If you have played DWM this will be fun and easy to pickup
