Never played the original but i looked it up to compare it to the remake. Its great that the new generation can enjoy the old Dragon Quests now. I hope the other parts are coming to pc too. I personally enjoyed it a lot.2 found this helpful

Fantastic game. I loved it from start to finish. Wish I would have played it sooner. Never got a chance to play the original; Still might do that. Highly recommend.
It's a Dragon Quest. I never played the original but played most of other games in the series. This one feels familiar out of the gate, I liked that I could create my entire team. Changing classes and collecting monsters were fun features. The HD-2D style looks beautiful as always. If you like other games in the series, I highly recommend this one. As a side note, I played most of the game on Legion Go S and it runs really well there on highest settings and balanced power mode.
