About Dragon Spirits

While constantly working on a video game without any rest, a college student who's about to graduate quietly slipped into slumber several times. His workmate, as well as his childhood best friend, advised him to take some decent sleep, but he simply wanted to get the game done before graduation to prove himself. However, the mystery is that, in those lucid dreams, he found himself in the game he's been working on —— a fantasy world of Dragon Spirits.
His memory of the real world fades in and out among these dreams.
He found himself became as his younger self and met his childhood best friend again. They are all junior school students here, learning how to master the power of Dragon Spirits with the help of their teachers and many other classmates.

Déjà vu, he just cannot understand why everything felt so familiar and miraculous.
 • Adapted from a self-made board game created by one of the developers. She designed it at her very young age. Her teacher laughed and said that it is absolutely worthless and impossible to become a real video game. Many years later, she made this game for celebrating her graduation from college.
 • Catch, Train, Battle! The core of its game mechanic is inspired by the Pokémon series. Rest assured that our unique design will deliver a distinctive experience.
 • Tactical, challenging, and exciting real-time combat system. You need to choose the 4 skills for every Dragon Spirit in your team to create an optimized combination for battles, you must know when would be the best to use them.
 • There are plenty of side quests and challenges to discover and conquer, but be sure to enjoy your colorful school life. You can even reveal the secrets hidden among the history of Dragon Spirits.
 • 100+ beautiful and characteristic illustrations of Dragon Spirits from various talented artists.\

✦ AI summary

Players praise the game's unique battle system mechanics, charming story with meaningful themes, and beautiful dragon designs that feel creatively distinct. However, the rough English translation creates significant frustration by making story details and game mechanics confusing and hard to understand, while arbitrary exploration restrictions block access to areas despite having visited them before, sometimes making progression unclear.

Gotta ride them all and do it in a sufficiently distinct way in which Nintendo won't sue you to oblivion.

It's neat little game with some interesting ideas that I CANNOT recommend for three specific reasons. -The English translation is very rough, making any attempt at following the details of the world and story almost nauseating. Even worse, this issue can bleed into the gameplay itself, since in can make some already obtuse mechanics basically impossible to grasp. -The world is surprisingly large, which would be a positive if not for how often you will find yourself barred from exploring it. I found myself scratching my head on several occasions where I was not allowed to enter an area despite having already been there as part of the story. This might be a problem stemming from the translation issue, leading to further confusion. -The battle system has some unique mechanics to approach battles with (instant death/indirect damage), but if you try to build a team around them, you will find yourself punished, as most of the boss encounters will just nullify them across the board and will no room for counterplay other than 'use something else', which feels pretty bad ngl.

the exact game you fantasized about making when you were 11 years old, autistic, and obsessed with dragons. combat is super fun and every dragon is super cool, some really beautiful and affecting designs here. story itself is very charming w/ a really sweet message. the setting though, as established in sidequests mostly, is great. it's weird post-first-contact pre-apocalyptic science-fantasy... with lots and lots of (rather alien) dragons.
you ever wonder why the pokemon world is so obsessed with pokemon? like, to the point their whole culture and infrastructure centers around them to a ridiculous degree? maybe there's a reason for that. maybe it's not such a good thing, in the long run.
lots of sidequests and nooks and crannies to explore, and you get free roam very quickly by jrpg standards. buy this its like 4 dollars on sale

x-- 7/10 --x What a lovely little RPG!! Beautiful artwork, and the story was intriguing. Pacing seemed a bit slow in some sections, but on a whole it was a fantastic indie RPG

Really like the game, and the story behind it. The beginning of the game has a lot of mechanics it tries to teach you, but it also gives you far more options to shift around your dragons' moves and strategy almost as soon as you get going. I like the battle system's mechanics, especially how you have to balance when you trigger your moves against when your opponent might attack, and stacking buffs and debuffs to manage the situation. Looking forward to finding all of the dragon spirits as the game progresses, especially with how intricate the designs are.
