About DRFT

DRFT is a physics-based arena shooter. Weaponize the raw momentum of every drift to supercharge into an invulnerable wrecking ball. Shred waves of foes and bounce off walls to survive. Between runs, stack upgrades to turn your hard-to-handle hatchback into a screen-clearing machine of destruction.

THE LOOP

  • FRICTION IS FUEL: Your tires are your power source. Drift to push your hatchback into overdrive.
  • BECOME THE WRECKING BALL: Reach max charge to go invulnerable. Weaponize your chassis and flatten every foe in your path.
  • BOUNCE TO SURVIVE: Every drift and wall-bounce is a chance to escape. Master your hatchback's erratic physics to turn a dead end into a getaway.

THE HATCHBACK

Don't let the size fool you. Customize your ride with over-the-top upgrades:
  • STACK YOUR ARSENAL: From rapid-fire machineguns to razor sharp caltrops.
  • ELEMENTAL OVERDRIVE: Customize your build by infusing your weapons with specialized affinities—shattering foes with Rime, electrocuting enemies with Conduit, or unleashing pure Chaos.
  • FROM SCRAP TO SUPREME: Stack enough power to transform your tiny car into a screen-clearing engine of destruction.

FEATURES

  • MOMENTUM IS EVERYTHING: Weaponize your velocity to pulverize your foes, but stay sharp—in this arena, your greatest asset can quickly become your fatal flaw.
  • QUICK-FIRE CHAOS: High-intensity, bite-sized sessions that cut the fluff and get straight to the drift—built for that "just one more lap" itch.
  • ENDLESS SYNERGIES: No two runs are the same. Experiment with five elemental affinities and wild upgrade combos to discover your own game-breaking build.

Such a fun and addictive game! The weapons system is like Vampire Survivors in that they automatically fire and you can upgrade them by levelling up, but the entire thing is made so much more intense and skillful by the easy to learn but hard to master control of a drifting car. Anybody can pick up the controls but finessing the little vehicle through hordes of enemies has a high skill ceiling that's really rewarding to build towards. Boss fights are genuinely challenging but beatable (so far haha) and there are different builds to keep things interesting. Definitely recommend.

Clever, little game that expands on "Survivor" genre by making movement a key part of gameplay. When you drift you become invincible. You become the weapon. Beside that there are actual weapons that you can install in your car and all feel distinct but don’t expect they will drastically change the gameplay. Upgrades are mostly about raising numbers but in a meaningful way so it's fun to try to create a "broken build". Driving requires some learning but it’s satisfying as there’s nothing that stops you or slows you down. No story. Just you, your car and deadly shapes. Visuals are similar to Ape Out - simple yet stylish. Music reminds me of some chace scenes from old school heist movies. I would love to see leaderboards or at least personal highscore because right now it's just surviving waves.

As the contributing composer, making music for DRFT was a really fun experience! Working with Kealo was super smooth, with his great taste in music :) I spent some time playing with a Switch controller. The controls are simple to pick up but quite hard to master, so I didn't get very far in the waves yet. But it's addictive enough that I'll keep playing! I especially enjoyed seeing how the visuals change when unlocking new weapons, and how the upgrades actually show up in the gameplay. Very stylish! The Saver sword is my favourite.

Survivors–like with drifting mecanics. Simple but genius idea, easy to start but hard to master. More short reviews for hidden gems at my curator page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44819215-Lesser-Known-Hidden-Gems/
