About Drowning

Drowning is a short game about a boy who quickly discovers he has depression in his earlier years of high school. Walk through a variety of beautiful low-poly environments as a story unfolds about how he deals with depression.

You will play in the eyes of a young boy starting out high school in year 7, and play through his following years, where he learns that living with depression is like living with someone trying to put you down all the time.

Walk through all the beautiful environments with a lovely soundtrack that suits the current mood of the game, and find all the hidden endings.

✦ AI summary

Players are divided on this narrative walking simulator, with some finding it emotionally resonant and relatable while others find the pacing painfully slow and the story difficult to connect with. Common complaints center on tedious mechanics like mandatory slow walking, lack of chapter select for viewing alternate endings, missing quality-of-life features like audio adjustment, repetitive music, and dated graphics, though some appreciate the story itself despite these issues. A notable complaint is that the game received quality-of-life improvements on PlayStation that haven't come to Steam,

Boring story told in a very slow way. Didn't agree with main character choises. Could not relate. Ugly and boring graphics. Repetetive and boring pianomusic. All in all, a big waste of time.

I'm giving this a not recommended for this platform specifically. I would recommend getting this on Playstation instead if you have one. The reason for this is because this game got an update with quality of life improvements that make the story easier to follow and the achievements easier to get, but not on Steam for some reason. As for the game itself, I actually liked it decently well. The story is actually quite good, but there are several typos and the game isn't super exciting or anything. If you're into walking simulators, you could probably enjoy this, but I still recommend getting it on Playstation instead if you can.

It's an OK Game. Not Bad but not too good either, takes you around 30 minutes, but it will make you feel something.

Well, that's tedious and self-indulgent. QOL annoyances : no sound adjustment; why do indies think this is optional? Lack of chapter choice; okay got secret ending #1 and, oh boy, if I want to see other endings can't just go back to the previous chapter I have to play it over from the beginning again ... WALKING VERY SLOWLY (no run key or fast walk key) Finally, I suspect if you really had an inner demon it actually might tip you over into suicide.
