Dungeon Rummage - Tiqee's Escape

[h1]Cute little top-view Dungeon Crawler. [/h1] A game in which you, a lone goblin, build and manage bots who bear the brunt of the battles for you. The player controls Tiqee who has a basic attack skill, some skills to debuff the enemy, and another set of skills to order her bots to deliver special attacks. There is a small variety of resources, that can either be found in the dungeon or dropped by enemies, to be used to buy or create items and ultimately upgrade your bots. Because the bots are all CPU-controlled, the battles are pleasantly fast-paced, with a nice variety of both combat music and enemies. You will build just three bots, each with just one alternative module that can be found in the dungeon to add some options for combat. It's very simple but good enough for the length of the game. Boss battles occur suddenly and without warning, but unless you have kept your bots unattended to, it isn't particularly unreasonable. There's also an optional boss that requires a little more preparation to defeat. Really enjoyed my time with Dungeon Rummage – Tiqee's Escape. Playing as Tiqee, the half-goblin/half-human tinkerer, makes the whole dungeon crawling adventure feel fresh. Exploring the dungeons, scavenging parts, and slowly building a little squad of robots to fight at your side is super satisfying. As someone who likes RPG Maker style games, this one really shows how creative the engine can be. The exploration, systems, and quirky ideas make it feel like a passionate project rather than a cookie-cutter RPG. Definitely a fun indie dungeon crawler to check out. Plus it has all the hallmarks that make RPGs great with plenty of fun achievements to help you invest in the post-game. Looking forward to my next step into the Dungeon Rummage world.

Another Dungeon Rummage game! This means lots of crafting and gathering what is needed in order to get by. Combat is rather straight forward with a decent strategy of building your bots to do a lot of the work for you. Meaning as you progress through, you start taking on more of a support role to the real damage dealers. You spend your resources to refill or repair the bots while they take the damage for you. Exploration is definitely rewarded in this game as you will find many hidden rooms where you can gather extra supplies and maybe even an item that permanently increases your skills. The hidden rooms themselves don't stick out like sore thumbs, but at the same time don't blend in so well that you can't tell where they are. Sadly, much like the other Dungeon Rummage game that I've played and is available at this time, it's too damn short! Sure, it's a $3 game and I shouldn't be demanding more than what I got, the fact remains that because it feels like nothing more than a taste of what is to come in another game, the ending feels unresolved. The art styles have a little bit of a concern as the art for Tiqee and the bots do not match the art styles of well.. all of the others…

This is overall a fun little RPGMaker game. You can easily complete a run in 2 - 4 hours, probably less if you know where to go or don't do like I did and find all the hidden rooms first. Overall the game is fun, feels pretty well balanced. I only hit one fight I felt was a little unfair, but I got past it after a couple tries. My only critique is you may need to turn up the brightness a little to play this game. I missed a way to proceed for about 20 minutes as I didn't see the rope as it blended in too much into the darkness. But this may be also because my PC was on Night Mode when I played it, so you may not have the same issue.

An RPG Maker game that is actually a game of its own and not another JRPG. Combat can be dull in the early going (it's too tempting to grind out new tinkers when you first find blueprints), but exploring a dungeon to find materials to craft your own party members is a neat twist. Using your turn to manage a part of robots is way more interesting than your standard RPG Maker/JRPG fare. Game appears short enough to get the most of its mechanics and introducing new concepts before it gets stale.

I am a big fan of the entire Dungeon Rummage series. Seeing how it all began is very interesting. The game is a lot of fun and the concepts are fairly unique. A lot of heart has been put into this game. More developers should learn from this instead of simply going for fancier graphics.
