About Duskborn
Duskborn has started as a university project at Stuttgart Media University in Germany. It has been developed by an interdisciplinary team of students over the course of two semesters (about 8 months) and further polished by a small team afterward. We hope you enjoy our final results!
It's the year 2114. Humanity is on the brink of extinction. An unknown organism spreads across the earth and annihilates the whole ecosystem. The cause of this catastrophe lies deep in the Abyss, a giant crater in which an abandoned city has been built. As an Abyss-Diver, your mission is to discover the secrets of the Abyss and search for a way to prevent humanity's extinction. Explore, collect items, and fight against enemies and bosses.
Race against time
You're not welcome in the Abyss. The unknown organism will do everything to protect itself. The longer you stay, more enemies will appear and they're stronger than before. So do not linger too long, or you will be overwhelmed. Good luck!
Level up
Throughout the world, you may find items, which can be combined into powerful upgrades for your character. There are nearly limitless combinations, so every run is a unique experience. Also, with every level up, you can upgrade the stats of your character.
Enemies
Face different types of enemies, each with an unique set of movement and attacks. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, these enemies are trained to eliminate you as quickly as possible. So watch out for swarms of drones or the deadly sound of the big laser.
Boss fight
Guarding the end of each stage lies a powerful enemy that must be defeated to progress further. These elite units are powerful and deadly, so make sure you perpare yourself before you face them!
Sponsoring
Special thanks to Randstad Digital Germany AG for sponsoring the game and made it possible to have merch and nice teamevents for our team.

"Duskborn" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students didn't even make a complete game this time, it's just an unfinished and abandoned tech demo for a contentless (procgen) third person shooter... and Risk of Rain 2, this is not (I didn't even like Risk of Rain 2). The developers abandoned this 1 year and 8 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made ga…3 found this helpful
Nice free game. The movement is good and the roguelike mechanics are enjoyable.2 found this helpful
Duskborn mixes atmosphere and exploration in a way that feels both moody and inviting. Its world building, visual style, and steady sense of progression create a compelling adventure that pulls you in before you realize it.1 found this helpful
