Did I buy this to relive my childhood, yes. Is there some things from the OG missing, yes. So far this remake isn't bad. I'm enjoying it though. I do however recommend waiting for a sale on it, I don't think it deserves SO much hate on here and on X./twitter. I know a lot of people have asked for a "multiplayer" but in the OG there was no multiplayer except for LAN parties, so it probably wont happen. The "Remix" missions are interesting... Some things need to change for sure like exploration instead of a death timer but the sprint is a huge plus.
Absolutely love Halo, which is why I'm leaving a negative review. THE GOOD This is a step in the right direction, as this game feels like it respects the original Halo with the added content. I'm absolutely blown away at the graphics and gameplay, beginning to end. The weapons, sound design, and overall feel of gameplay is top tier, and the 343 team should be proud. I felt like I was playing Halo again, which i couldn't really say for Halo 5 and Infinite. The skulls and terminals are a welcome and awesome addition to the campaign, adding much needed replay value. The covenant design in the prequel missions feels fresh, as well as the added lore and story. SPOILERS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE BAD However, the 343 need to "write their own story" is horrendous, which is very present in the prequel missions and cutscenes of the game. They attempted to tack on Girlboss Williams distaste for Master Chief as "She's an ODST and ODST's don't like Spartans" as the reason for it, which is BS. Williams throwing her life away with her marines felt out of place, and the story would have been better and more satisfying if they made it …
I liked this game especially since it added to the original though it is poorly optimized. The most frustrating part for me is that even after long loading screens the game still isn't fully loaded. I would still have to pause the game and wait a minute for it to load and if there's a cutscene for like 30 seconds the cutscene freezes causing me to miss the first half of every level starting cut scene since they removed the ability to pause cutscenes.
Overview
I'll be honest here is the game worth the price? my answer no definitely not I mean its not necessarily a bad game like graphical wise its good the story is untouched but there's just something off about the game which I'm not entirely sure what I do feel they were far too quick to release the game and should have waited to do more optimisation and polish passes but I think Halo Studios just used this game as way to see what they could do with UE5 and see if this is how they are going to proceed with the franchise on.
This compared to the Anniversary Edition
Its a huge step up and a complete remake compared to the reskin they done with Halo Reaches assets which was awful because it was those assets squashed onto Combat Evolved animation skeletons which gave bulky remains and Covenant proportions to be extremely off with clipping also the environment side was far too bright especially 343 Guilty Sparks mission was just NOT HORROR.
Things I like

Skulls are definitely where its at really changes the gameplay experience so I would find those first as fast as possible then play the campaign fully
Horror elements are well done.
…
Don’t listen to the crybabies this is a good remake. Legit it just needs firefight and some tweaks to the ai and that’s it.
so i cant play the mission keyes ive gone as far to wipe my whole pc to try and fix it
