Earth: 9000

I didn't think I was going to get much from this game based on the title art. Felt like it was going to be another college project. I was so wrong! This is Missile Command for 2020, in the best way. Unlock all of the upgrades to find your perfect playstyle. Great action gameplay, fun choices, and the art really grew on me. Seeing ships explode into color clouds, which then get cut to pieces as projectiles fly through them, was massively satisfying. The tutorial interface is a mess, and almost made me reconsider my purchase, but after the 30 seconds looking at bad text placement, the game enabled its hyperdrive and kicked into high gear. For new players, look at the tips on how to use the shields. While I got used to the game without them, they occasionally saved my life. I also noticed the word "seasons" in the menu, and really hope we see new content eventually. This game will definitely stay in my current roster of games played.

Earth: 9000 is a quaint shoot 'em up with a fast paced tactical shooting and customizable play-style. It boasts enough enemy and weapon varieties to keep you busy with hours of fun, including surprise events throughout.

Earth: 9000 is like a weird Missile Command rogue-like. Worth checking out. The gameplay is pretty simple and arcadey but has some interesting depth. You basically play as 'earth' and blast all these waves of different spaceships attacking from all directions. You have six different weapon types to choose from, directional shields you activate to avoid taking damage, and a tractor beam to pull in supplies dropped from destroyed ships. Along the way you can unlock tons of different weapons -- the new weapons aren't always "better" they're just different and I found it fun to experiment with different combinations. I wish the game were a little more generous with ammo, but it does make you be more strategic with your shots and forces you to go for some of the ammo upgrades. Yeah that's the other neat thing, as you progress in each run you choose upgrades to specific types of weapons, ammo, shields, or weird stuff like upgrading the moon that orbits Earth. So far I've tried a few different upgrade paths for different runs. So probably my favorite things about the game are these random boss waves. They're super hard and you get attacked by a huge ship or even a planet. They can be real…

When I first started playing, the gameplay drew me in. It was simple to understand (protect Earth) and the mechanics were intelligently designed. I found myself playing in short bursts and enjoying it. Since then, then game has been updated regularly and it just keeps getting better. With the recent graphics upgrade, this game has gone from a fun time-sink to an addiction. I highly recommend the game.

This is a solid game with deep mechanics. Definitely give this one a shot!
