Echo Generation 2

Excellent Game, I would argue the first game was Better, But this still was Brilliant. Graphics and Scenarios was just as Brilliant as the First one, The Horror aspect.... arguable. In the first game the horror suspense was definitely better, but the monsters and their deformities and grotesque form in this game are Far worse (basically they did a better job at scarier monsters). The combat system for me was decent, they're were aspects i love in this game and aspects i loved in the first. Like the Brake System in this game which you hit enemies with specific attack types enough times they brake and you do more damage when you harm them as well as more status effects in this game for changing gameplay styles. Also in this game you can reset your skill system in case your build was making it difficult for you, while in the first game. Ruin your build... might as well start over (but its hard to do that in the first game). You see many characters in the first game appear which was a nice add on and even have the two main characters fight with you for a short period of the game (hilarious how they are fighting). I liked the first one up until a point. I enjoyed the demo for this one, figured it had to be a step up from before. It is not. It's light on story, broken up in chapters with different characters that really don't bring things together. And combat is atrocious. The first chapter is misleading because your character can often use their cards twice a turn. Second chapter onward it's the same boring attack pattern over and over again. You attack. Enemy attacks. Other party member attacks. Enemy attacks. Rinse and repeat. And of course there's the horrible character Blunder or Bulder or whatever his name is. I can't remember because every time I had to use him my head sank into a pit of despair. The majority of his attacks will also damage him. I get that there's kind of a strategy there, but you really depend on the random selection of cards to not suck. And, well. They sucked more often than not. So, this is a miss for me. Disappointed, yet again.

Pros: Fun battle mechanics with interesting combo setups, and great art and sound direction. Cons: Very short and easy to 100% achievements. The game lacks cohesive plot and there should be more chapters that explain plot better and give you an opportunity to form a better in-world team. As it stands right now, this is three short stories for a final team up with a paragraph of explanation as to why the characters are there or even working together.

So, before I begin, I'd like to say that I've played both the first and the second games and I'd recommend BOTH to anyone who might be considered purchasing either one! Now, onto my review of the game. First of all, the game is incredible! I love how diverse the world is and how people from different walks of life are intertwined across different perspectives to fight against a threat unlike any other. The game looks beautiful, the dialogue is fun and sassy, the characters are likable, and the gameplay feels almost as good as the first game. My only real grievance with the game itself is that it doesn't have the same feel as the first game, in my honest opinion. The first game felt like a complete story with a perfectly digestible theme of nostalgia which made it feel much longer and more expansive. This second game does an excellent job at combining stories across a narrative, but the stories themselves feel extremely short and hollow, so when the characters finally fight together to stop the big bad, it doesn't give that feeling of unity that a story like this should have in the final fight. I do consider this game a prequel to the first one, though, so I can give it a pass on…

This game was a blast good music and combat just a little bit short though.

Probably one of the most innovative games I have played in a long time, great vintage graphic style feel. Great story, the combat style is so fun. My daughter and I played it through together, we loved the story, it was silly and heartfelt, definitely family friendly, we loved the sci-fi stuff, hope to see more of this.
