EGO :: Exit Protocol

This is the second broken pixel art Korean game I played. Generic font and generic gameplay. The game is broken and can easily bug out on you. And it is not that much fun expect for it being a quick 100%. I fell through the map trying to enter a door. My character went off screen and never came back so I had to start a new game from main menu . Things can be really confusing. Pixel art is just generic and nothing special. Your typical shovelware of this nature.

EGO :: Exit Protocol is a pretty interesting little mystery adventure that caught my attention because of its time loop idea. I wake up inside an unfamiliar building with no memory of who I am or how I got there, and the only way forward is to explore the strange environment and piece together what happened. I liked the feeling of slowly discovering information rather than having everything explained to me immediately. It gives the whole game a quiet sense of mystery that kept me curious. The time loop is easily the most interesting part for me. My actions from previous cycles become fragments of memory, so exploring the same place again is not simply repeating the exact same thing. I can use what I have learned to understand new clues and make better decisions during the next cycle. I enjoyed this because it makes the repetition feel like part of the puzzle instead of just padding the game out. The actual gameplay focuses on exploration and puzzle solving rather than combat. I have to search the building, collect clues and work out how different pieces of information fit together. I liked this approach because it keeps the focus on the mystery and the story.
