You'll only have four buttons: jump, attack, guard and weapon stealing. But this simple way of proceeding is deeper than one can expect. There is no need of manuals or walkthroughs to get into the game, but if anyone is ready to deepen into the mechanics, the game will offer a profound, precise and rewarding timing-based action experience. The motto of El Shaddai's gameplay always was to be "easy but profound". Many of the game's mechanics such as the offense-defense systems were carefully created to provide the best possible game feel.The game received the "Future Game of the Show" award in the Tokyo Game Show 2010 and the script, noting some of the characters lines, got a gold mention on the Internet Buzzword Awards 2010 as well. The original aesthetics, the uniqueness of its concept and the feeling of being ahead its time (2011) were widely discussed on the international media.

Would not recommend you purchase this game as the launcher is currently having issues, and it doesn't start. Seems to be an issue with newer processors.1 found this helpful

pretty good game basically the opposite of devil may cry in a way
I wanted to play this game since it came out on Xbox360. What better time than now that it got a remaster, right? The art and style is really special. So is that weird mix between not holding your hand and then again holding it. Ultimately either this is not for me or it aged poorly gameplay wise. I played until chapter 7 and then I quit out of boredom. It's just not very interesting and the story is really really slow paced and pretty shallow until this point.
El Shaddai is awesome. It's an amazingly weird action game, with a very clear and unique art direction and sound design, and it carries a lot of that experimental Clover Studios DNA (and sure enough, a lot of Clover devs). The menu sounds and subtitle fonts, even. It looks weird, it plays weird, it sounds weird, the story is weird, but all in a good way. If strange is your jam or if you like Clover stuff, give it a go.
Game won't launch. Launcher appears but clicking "Start" just causes the main executable to launch and crash. Tried a couple of fixes (like messing around with the CPU core affinities) but nothing worked. Had to refund. Real shame, was looking forward to trying this. Guess I'll have to play it on PS3 or try one of the newer ports on console (if that PS5 port ever drops, since the Switch version is $30).
