On the surface this seems like a no brainer, a clearly HoMM inspired game with bit graphics. However, it just doesn't do it. The main issue is twofold, first they have too much city crap, half of which is not very useful to the game. The main issue though is the combat, it uses real time mob battling, but it's really unclear how your units stack up in a fight, even battles it claims are an easy win can result in lots of losses. You just dont have a good feel for how strong the units are and how many is a lot versus not. They just meander slowly towards the enemy and grind away. Deployment limits mean you're constantly limited in how you can utilize your army and the auto deploy doesn't seem very well optimized for the enemy you're fighting. Spells and powers on the battlefield are woefully underpowered, randomly won't fire and fairly pointless to the outcome of the fight. Ultimately the fighting is dull and random and just comes down to getting as many units as you can and hoping it's enough, there is none of the strategy of HoMM where you can strategically leverage your different units on the battlefield and out play a tougher enemy. Its basically like playing HoMM and auto resol…11 found this helpful

Long time HOMM player, also own Hero's Hour. TLDR this is isn't half bad and I prefer this over Hero's Hour. Keeping last sentence in but returned to Hero's Hour and noticed some considerable improvements since I last played - albeit they seem to have dropped the map edtor. This is a simpler game than Hero's Hour and I like them both, with HH shading it now. Obviously this doesn't get anywhere near HOMM3 status. But for the time I've played the game it brings back memories and its a lot better than I expected. If you have played Hero's Hour its much the same game albeit there are nations rather than factions. Having said that, excusing the real time combat HH was the same game as HOMM3, so not sure where all the hate comes from.1 found this helpful
I was very pleased. The game is really good and it is worth trying to play, it is addictive from start and its hard to stop playing. This is a big "+" for many roguelikes and sandboxes games, this one will definitely pleasantly surprise you.1 found this helpful
