Castle Empire

"Castle Empire" is another garbage Chinese mobile app infested with a cash shop, dumped on Steam to try scam PC gamers the same way they scam mobile peasants. This one is a blatant ripoff of the old "node control" number masher game, Galcon, so we're stealing ideas from real game developers as well as trying to scam gamers. Great. This has some really mediocre looking graphics that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarly visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. This game is not for everyone. It was not for me. So my review will be honestly written from my point of view. Which from my point of view, this game warrants a negative review for any players out there like me. This is my positive paragraph. If you are a player who truly loves Real Time Strategy (RTS), and are willing to be a slave to the game, like forever, and maybe do not mind a game that constantly displays ads, then it may be to your liking. The other really cool thing about this game was the international community of gamers. I found that aspect super cool. I got to interact with people from all over the planet. Translation awkwardness aside, it was a lot of fun to do that. Up front, I disliked being forced to play silly castle defense games in order to unlock the real game, which is a grand scale Real Time Strategy game. I could live with that as they later make it another way to gather certain resources, albeit in a grindy way. I mean. all the grinding, each and every day, if you want to make progress. I enjoy building my castle. I like the challenging strategy involved in conquering empires. This game has so much going on, yet it is fairly simple.

I enjoy playing, spent very little on game and still can progress. Overall thumbs up!
