Encoded War, developed and published by Somnolent Team, is a focused and unconventional simulation game that builds its entire identity around one central mechanic: transmitting Morse code under pressure. Set against the backdrop of World War II, it steps away from the usual depictions of combat and instead zeroes in on the quiet but critical role of a communication operator. This perspective gives the game a distinct identity, turning what might seem like a niche concept into a structured, skill-driven experience that emphasizes precision, timing, and concentration. The gameplay revolves around receiving instructions and converting them into Morse code as accurately as possible. At first, the process feels simple and almost meditative, as players learn the rhythm of dots and dashes and begin to internalize the system. However, the game quickly introduces more demanding scenarios, layering additional requirements and increasing the complexity of transmissions. Great game that fools you into thinking it's a regular Morse code edu project while hiding some family drama against the backdrop of WW2. Pretty good story, although it's a bit short and since the devs aren't native English speakers there's a couple of typos and such here and there. Gameplay difficulty is increased as time goes on (à la Papers Please) which keeps it entertaining and engrossing!

Cringe worthy storyline, awkward controls and mechanics, and does a poor job at actually teaching morse code What the heck do you mean all you do is autocomplete words?

help me to learn morse code and being able to send it relatively proficiently, but it's not too short and not fun at all. btw, nobody is able to have the leisure to read text while undergoing intensive Morse code training, especially when the text and story are not engaging...

I just finished Encoded War, and I’m still thinking about it. While the game is undeniably dark, the storytelling here is phenomenal. The writing is so descriptive. I grew really attached to the characters. Once you memorize all the Morse codes, there’s a unique sense of achievement in decoding messages yourself. One of the most immersive experience that I've had. I really recommend it.

The story is really badly written and immature, but I had tons of fun with the actual gameplay and would recommend it based solely on that.
