✦ AI summary
Players appreciate EQQO's touching story about a mother guiding her blind son, along with its beautiful presentation and strong voice acting, but find the gameplay itself shallow and repetitive with overly simple puzzles that lack meaningful interactivity beyond clicking and camera adjustments. The camera system receives mixed feedback—some find it essential to the storytelling experience while others consider it frustrating—and the mouse controls feel more natural than the available gamepad option.
Despite the repetitious nature of the puzzles and easy difficulty, the game draws you in with a nice story. The plot revolves around a mother and her blind child. The child vanishes one day while he is outside playing. The mother looks around but cannot find the boy. As a last hope, she looks to the sky for assistance. Surprisingly, they answer by sending a single star shaped like a butterfly to assist the boy. It turns out that the boy has a crucial mission: to carry the new Snake God's egg deep inside its temple. You play the role of a mother who watches from the sky and guides her blind child. The game is played using a mouse. Although the gamepad is available, it does not feel great or provide a pleasant experience owing to the excessive clicking and moving about. By clicking on the ground, the child will move there. Despite his blindness, the boy is very good at navigating around the world's things, including trees, rocks, and even small bridges. He also has no trouble interacting with specific objects in the world. The camera is not fully under your control. Because you are looking from the sky, you can only switch between dark stars that serve as alternative perspectiv…8 found this helpful
6/10 Barely scrapes a recommendation. The game (which is good at heart) is ruined by a camera system that is just awful! Works great and looks beautiful in VR using UEVR. As though native in fact.4 found this helpful
First 20 Minutes Gameplay Here Here we have a game from the developers who brought you Under the Waves and Dark Days, and it seems they are getting better by the day. In EQQO, you play the role of Eqqo, a character who is blind. The story unfolds before your eyes through the narration of his mother, who shapes the story and guides you along the path Eqqo took. I really like the style, and I also appreciated the camera viewpoint since it focuses on the story. Considering that you are not actually playing a traditional adventure game, it's more about pointing the character in the right direction. The camera also plays a crucial role, as you have to change the viewpoint to see the puzzles. The puzzles are not very difficult, and you can solve them by observing closely and listening carefully. Overall, it's a great adventure puzzle game. A big thumbs up!2 found this helpful
Chill and very easy. Well written and narrated.
I'm gonna be honest- I didn't play the whole game. I like supporting artistic games like this, but sometimes they're a little boring. This game, it's biggest fault, is that the gameplay simply isn't that fun. It's amazingly thoughtful, and creative, and there's tons of animations and voice acting, but outside of adjusting the camera and clicking through well-paced animations, there's not much else outside of here. Even more impressing though, this game was made for mobile, and to be honest, I didn't get that vibe going in. It's a great game, that I skipped the middle of, and enjoyed the ending online. I will be looking for more games from this studio.
