About Eternal

Eternal is a first-person survival horror shooter set in a world inspired by the SCP Foundation universe. In this original universe, you play as a protagonist trapped in a sinister mental asylum filled with entities inspired by SCP creatures. Your goal is to escape this terrifying place while unraveling the dark secrets behind your inability to die.

In Eternal, you will:

Experience Unending Resurrection: No matter how many times you fall, you will come back to life, driven by a mysterious force. Use this to your advantage as you learn from each death and devise new strategies.

Encounter Unique Entities: Face off against a variety of terrifying creatures, each with their own unique abilities and behaviors. Learn their patterns, exploit their weaknesses, and survive their relentless attacks.

Scavenge for Survival: In desperate circumstances, struggle to find scattered ammunition, medical supplies, and firearms to protect yourself. Every item you find could mean the difference between life and death as you fight to survive.

Unveil Dark Secrets: Piece together the story of why you are trapped in this cycle of resurrection. Explore the asylum, find clues, and uncover the truth behind the sinister experiments conducted within its walls.

✦ AI summary

Players praise the game as a genuinely scary survival horror experience with good atmosphere and a sense of accomplishment, making it a solid addition to the sparse quality survival horror genre. However, common complaints include unclear game mechanics (such as how sanity decreases), frustrating enemy design (mannequins blocking doors, constant respawning), limited weapon effectiveness (particularly the axe's poor range and damage), and a general sense that the experience becomes repetitive and overly punishing rather than challenging in a fair way.

The game itself is very good! I would recommend it, especially since there is an ever present shortage of quality survival horror games. Definitely can be scary to some. A few (and I do mean few) flaws in my opinion: - The game doesn't tell you what causes your sanity to go drop. It appears to just do that without purpose - perhaps it's time based? Based on proximity to enemies? Would be nice to let the player know. - Mannequins can block doors, trapping you in a room. This basically kills the player on the spot. All you can do then is wait or quit. This happened to me :( - I understand the idea behind not having some ui that shows how much ammo is left in the weapon, but why can you not check how much ammo you have in your gun? Maybe by pressing and holding the reload button, the player "inspects" the gun, showing how much is left in the mag. This could be accomplished without animating - maybe try temporarily despawning the gun or hiding it from view, shaking the camera, and playing sound effects to give the player the idea of that happening? I don't want to suggest something that's unfeasible to implement, but I think this could be achieved without needing to spend 5 hours ma…

It would've been a good experience had the dev decided not to constantly respawn enemies everywhere. Renders the shooting aspect of the game pointless if enemies just pop back up immediately.

This game is bad. It straight up steals any "world building" from SCP, but not in a way that makes sense. The only real SCP influence is the mannequin monster that follows you, which is more of an annoyance then anything else. Other than that there is a note that just relabels the classifications within the SCP universe as different categories. It seems like all of the assets in this game were just ripped from the unity store. The zombies in the game just aimlessly run at you and start to spaz out while standing still, and the axe you're given, the only reliable weapon you have throughout the game, has the same range of a push tack, and feels as though a push tack would do more damage. Overall 1/10 I do not recommend.

Dear Penthouse Magazine i used to think these stories were all fake until one day I was alone and downloaded this game... Alright so this game can go two ways for you you go in and fly through it or you're like me and you approach it with extreme caution thinking thats the best way and you screw yourself into driving a horde of fast zombies/monsters into one of the more important rooms where they kill you and they end up remaining the entire time so every time you go back to said room there's a huge hoard waiting which you then use your ammo on but since its loud it only brings in even more zombies and you basically use all our ammo and die over and over again. in my opinion, the game becomes frustrating after a bit, for 4 major reasons The ax - the strikes are very slow so it should be a one hit kill when hitting the head. Instead youre stuck swinging it 3-6 times MINIMUM if youre lucky to be close enough to hit infinite respawning of enemies - i understand why it was happening AFTER the ending but still, very annoying clearing out areas just for more to randomly spawn 10 feet behind me Sanity - it dropped too fast at times and even immediately after taking pills to bring it b…
