About Ever Forward
Ever Forward is an adventure puzzle game — it is the story of Maya. Maya is lost in a strange world somewhere between reality and imagination. She is alone to confront her despair on her journey of discovery, where she must unlock her memories and confront her fears to unravel the secrets of the world. Players will need to use their observational skills and intelligence to solve multiple puzzles to piece together the mystery of Maya's past and what dark secrets she has buried.Key Features

The negative reviews are spot on: fantastic art design utterly wasted on puzzles that aren't hard because they offer a reasonable challenge, but because Maya's jump is so pitifully short for such massive gaps, but also the fact that the slightest twitch of the analog stick sends her careening in one direction, making it exceedingly difficult to not accidentally, for instance, run a step too far and right in range of one of the sentry bots, resetting the puzzle back to the start. This type of dodgy/janky movement would be fine if this were a pure puzzle game. Unfortunately, Ever Forward is the kind that requires timing and precision movement, and I have very little patience for crippled control, something that more or less was perfected for 3D games around three decades ago.4 found this helpful
ChatGPT reviews are wrong, this is the prequel to Portal: Cube You play as little Caroline and her cube—I don't care I even added an em dash to make it factual3 found this helpful
Ever Forward is a puzzle and adventure game. In short, and without spoilers, it's about a girl named Maya who is searching for her mother after she left her. The story begins there. The story is fairly good, and I enjoyed it. The music is also great. The puzzles are somewhat similar to Portal, but Portal is much more difficult. The puzzles were average, except for the last part of the story, which had one that was somewhat difficult. However, it depends on how difficult you perceive the puzzles to be. Overall, the game is enjoyable and worth trying, especially if you are a fan of puzzles and short stories. I also recommend buying it when it's on sale3 found this helpful
TLDR; Good graphics, puzzles ez besides timing puzzles due to unintuitive-ness, story lacks punch As other reviews mention, graphics are good. Puzzles are easy enough, except I personally don't consider the last one or two 'puzzles' to be puzzles. They're mainly timing based with barely enough intuitive mechanics to actually understand the timing. Personally, the story is meh, as the ending doesn't personally hit enough due to no character building/emotional attachment to said characters. After your little flying cube companion unlocks the ability to fly, rooms became unnecessarily large to begin the puzzles. I wouldn't mind the slow movement/large "hub" world of the grassy area if there was at least some sort of sprint. If the puzzle locations were closer together, this would also make it more appealing.
About 2.5h long. A walking simulator with a few puzzles and story bits inbetween. The story consists of slice of life scenes and doesn't explain much. There are three somewhat challenging puzzles, the rest is easy. Two missable achievement ("A Tree Reborn" and "Leafless").
Ever Forward, developed and published by Pathea Games, is a contemplative puzzle-adventure that blends quiet storytelling with increasingly demanding logic challenges. It follows Maya, a young girl caught in a surreal limbo shaped by fragments of memory and emotional trauma. Rather than presenting its narrative directly, the game unfolds through symbolism and environmental cues, asking the player to piece together meaning from scattered moments. This restrained approach gives the story a reflective, almost dreamlike quality, though it also means that much of its emotional impact depends on how much the player is willing to interpret and engage with its subtleties. The gameplay is structured around discrete puzzle chambers that function almost like self-contained tests of logic. Early on, the mechanics feel straightforward—pushing objects, activating switches, and navigating simple layouts—but the game steadily layers additional systems that complicate each scenario. Players must account for line-of-sight restrictions, timing-based hazards, teleportation devices, and stealth elements that introduce pressure into what might otherwise be a purely contemplative experience. At its best…
