Take off your head to reach different areas, shoot ropes to release boxes that you traverse with. This game doesn't do much crazy or intuitive but it's a fun enough platformer. The music is actually all pretty fitting. The game takes a little under an hour to get through. [h1]The Minor Gripes[/h1] The first thing to talk about is the inevitability that the platforming in this title isn't as strong as you would expect in a higher budgeted game. It isn't buttery smooth and you will feel like it is the games fault for mistakes especially late game. There are checkpoints thrown throughout but I found one thing rather difficult when it came to using them. When you die you will respawn with one health. Having trouble with a difficult section filled with monsters and tricky falls; you may only have one health to get through it. Everybody Loves Skeletons is an interesting platform, that has a fluid handling and invites you to play it, as the only thing is that it has no history, they should add a small one, history would add more interest to future buyers.

I admit to being pretty close to mine, but after playing this I’m not sure everyone is going to love what they do. This is a bare-bones platformer with some cute puzzles using your skellyman’s ability to pop off his head to get into tight places. You’ll get a cane gun and a grappling hook too, but the former is underused and the latter is impossibly finicky. That’s the thing, this is one of those unpolished indie platformers where everything feels just a little too stiff or sticky, and when you get to the really punishing platforming in the later levels it’s going to become REALLY noticeable. The art is charming but lacking a lot of animation, which only adds to the cheap feeling. I was okay with this one for most of the journey, but it lacks a proper ending and only took about 45 minutes to get through. I hate to say it, but you can do a lot better. [h1]Overview:[/h1] '[i]Everybody Loves Skeletons[/i]' is a simple 2D platformer where the player must traverse through a dark and dingy world solving puzzles with the ability to leave their bodies and move around with just their heads. It definitely does not require elaborated thinking and is not at all challenging but it still offers quite a bit of fun for those casual players. There are a few hiccups and there but I'll get to that in a bit. The game is playable, responsive, and entertaining to say the least. [h1]Gameplay:[/h1] The game seems to offer little to the player in the beginning but will give the player more things to do and use later on. At first you'll only really be able to change sizes and use your cane or shout as a defense mechanism depending on what form you're in, but you'll soon be introduced to more weapons and tools and even upgrades for said items. An almost entirely basic platformer through and through, the few changes away from vanilla jumping challenges aren’t stark enough to really pull you away from a game that has very little going on in it. Some of the things it does include are slightly awkward like the enemies, art style, and the cane’s hit detection, so with very little interesting to latch onto, it ends up a mostly forgettable game that barely lasts an hour. The fundamentals of a platformer are here and certain aspects are done competently, but little niggling annoyances make it hard to walk away with a positive impression. The core gameplay, when it isn’t stumbling from issues like the bland level layouts, underutilization of mechanics, or odd detection issues, doesn’t provide anything strong to form an opinion around, so the negatives stand out amidst the backdrop of an otherwise generic game.
