EDIT: the running power you get late game is bound to double tap left/right, and not a button. wtf are you thinking Everything is bad except the music, when there's music. Oh and the art is fine. But everything else.... bad hitboxes, boring clunky movement tech (like the awful wall jump ability where you have to attack the wall to stick to it, but it only works if you're already fully against the wall; it's so bad), horrendously bad platforming starting about 2/3rds of the way through the game. Overly tanky enemies that you just end up skipping past, and some unbelievably tanky bosses (some of the bosses are complete pushovers though). Some clear influences from Hollow Knight, but unfortunately they didn't take the main component of HK: a fun game. Oh yeah and the translation is so bad, it's just embarrassing. I'm pretty sure the average second grader could've translated this better. They even misspell the main characters name EVERY single time in game. (It's supposed to be "Xuannu" according to the store page, which also doesn't look correct, but I digress.... in game it is "Xuannv" every single time)3 found this helpful
The game is pretty ass, but I paid like 2 bucks for it so it is what it is. The controls are very clunky and the translation oscillates between broken english and straight up untranslated. The saddest part is that both problems are easily fixable1 found this helpful
Poor hitboxes. poor excution, janky controls. I got it for 2$ & still feel disappointed.1 found this helpful
Change to English and you can get by. Mix of weird furry young girl and baffling lore, but the actual game is worth these somewhat lost in translation aspects. I'm sure they know their core audience and it's on target for some with the aesthetic. Happily, it is nicely done - drawn well, plays well. Got it on sale, but they're not asking the Earth to begin with. After just under three hours it's clearly getting me back for more
Surprised is soo good. Peak!
Edit after beating the game
I think I judged this game a little unfairly (hehe get it, it's Exorcist FAIRy). I gave a negative review just because of 2 bad zones (don't get me started about the electric gate and mana orbs, just look into community guides for that). Enough disclaimers. In the end I did enjoy this game. I like the combat even if it's repetitive and sometimes unfair and normal enemies become damage sponges. I like the character design and a good chunk of a level design. If you enjoy 2D action like Hollow Knight or Dust give it a try. If you don't then.. idk you do you.
Original review
Look I really want to like this game. I love metroidvanias and platformers and this Hollow Knight type of combat. The beginning is fun and has somewhat unique and diverse enemies and bosses that have traits of monsters in the area. BUT After presumably half of the game when you go to he fire area and the wall climbing area the balance and level design fall apart. Sticking to a wall has no rules, works 50% of the time, every button gets you off the wall sometimes additionally activating the ability assigned to that specific button, e.g. you let go and ca…
