My Experience I discovered Fallen while looking at new releases that had been tagged with the "RPG" keyword. I can't say that Fallen much resembles a traditional RPG, but the neat art style (and the fact that it was free) led me to give it a shot anyway. Shortly after the protagonist Eson attempts to steal an amulet, he finds himself in the town of Havoton attempting to help the citizenry. However, to help each citizen you're required to complete a different type of minigame. And dude, these minigames are hard. I completed enough to progress the game, but I found a number of them almost impossible (wall typing, drawing, catching leaves, eradicating worms, and watering plants). It takes a moment to even figure out what you're being asked to do, and by the time you figure it out, you're way behind. The "clean the drain" minigame was also difficult due to the way that Eson bounces up slightly after he drops to a lower level. If you fail any of these minigames, that's it - you can't retry them and you failed to help the citizen. However, Eson is allowed to "cheat" at the minigames if you so choose due to bestowed power from a woman he inte…

"Fallen" is a collection of minigames, none of which alone are enough to make what anyone would consider a real PC game, and combined together, are still not enough to make what anyone would consider a real PC game. Take on the role of a fallen angel who must help the residents of a Halloween-obsessed town to regain their angelic status through various minigames. Or, like almost the entire player base on Steam did, don't. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse. And wow, the 4:3 aspect ratio... did they make this on a CRT they found in a dumpster? Or could they only afford a PC made in the 1990s and think that's what everyone uses? This is only free in a rudimentary sense... the developer has their hand out for a $3 USD "donation" for this as you're expected to buy soundtrack DLC from Steam to "support" the "developer"... digital panhandling. Like the homeless guys who splash dirty water on your windscree…

The art and dialogue are charming and the minigames are pleasantly challenging. Easy recommendation, I look forward to seeing what else this dev comes up with
