Fancy Fishing VR

Highlights, finally being able to find Nemo and put a good amount of shot gun shells into his head. Lowlights, everything else in this stinking pile of fish entrails.

Another in the series of "Fancy" games (Fancy being code for "kinda lame")...This time it's Fancy Fishing. When I heard the title, I thought I'd be in a boat with a rod and reel and lures and stuff. Instead I'm on some kind of pedestal underwater with fish all around me and I just shoot them for points. (so lame). It's not 100% trash, but it's not good enough to warrant a thumbs up. If you got this in a bundle then it's probably worth about what you paid for it (meaning like 1/10th of $3.99 or whatever the bundle was). If you bought this with your own money ... why? I guess it looks entertaining from the screenshots but trust me, this is not something you'll spend time in. I don't even really have enough to give a list of things I liked or disliked. It's just like a wave shooter without much cause to feel like there's any danger, and then there's a mode where you fight a boss (shark or whatever) and then you can buy better weapons since otherwise you'll spend a lot of time trying to kill just one fish. I know you can do better than this game.

You're on a platform under the sea that moves up and down (using trackpad). You earn gold coins by shooting futuristic weapons like shotguns and lasers at fish who are minding their own business heading for some sort of aquatic Stargate. After a while the Jaws theme plays and a shark starts circling. For some reason the platform doesn't work and you have to crouch when it attacks but I was lazy and only ducked. Survive and the next level of fish appear. There's also a tour mode where the platform moves on a predetermined path and another without the shark. Gun and hand models look good (the reef not so much), the shock wave effects when using some weapons are really effective. Fish vanish when blasted rather than explode in a vermilion cloud of blood and giblets, which is a shame. And why does it take 2 rounds from the M45D Tactical Shotgun knockoff to kill a clownfish? This would be good if the well-known "FishLord" hardened up and sent out some real fish because shooting a stream of bubbles from a shotgun at passing marine life is not a great fishing adventure. It's more like a fairground shooting range, but underwater with fish and shotguns. Sounds good on paper. 6/1…

3/10 - boring. I don't really know what to say about this one... The idea isn't horrible it just feels like a rough demo being tossed up as a full out game. If you get it really cheap it might still feel kind of like a rip off. You stand on a platform and shoot fish to earn enough score to fight the bosses, you fight 3 bosses then you finish... that is the game. ER... spoiler or something I guess. I and I think many people are very tired of the boring tech demo type games all over steam and flooding VR overall. I am fine with trying new things or expanding on ideas but this doesn't bring anything but a quick buck to the table. Oh well, it burned up 45 minutes at least. ------------- Make up your own mind. Very trashy. This game isn't even worth going into detail on how boring and basic it is. Thank Gaben for Steam refunds.

I don’t quite understand the premise; like one of the other reviewers, I was expecting a fishing experience, with rod and reel… but instead, it’s an underwater wave shooter where various sea creates are your targets. That being said... it has good enough graphics, a few different weapon types, and seems perfectly stable. The squid boss was kinda fun. You earn points and upgrade your weapons as your go. Good execution, but maybe I'm just not that big into shooting fish? For the price I picked it up, thumbs up! But beware: You’re underwater, shooting fish with blasters… that’s the entire premise.
