Fireboy & Watergirl and Friends takes the cooperative puzzle-platforming foundation of the series and expands it by introducing three additional companions into the familiar elemental adventure. Instead of drastically changing the established concept, the game develops it through larger character-management possibilities and a fresh collection of 36 levels. Developer and publisher Oslo Albet maintains the accessible design that made earlier entries easy to understand while giving players additional pieces to coordinate during each puzzle. The basic objective remains deliberately straightforward. Players must guide Fireboy, Watergirl, and their friends through obstacle-filled stages and eventually bring the required characters to their respective exits. Reaching those doors involves considerably more thought than simply running and jumping across platforms. Switches, moving mechanisms, environmental hazards, collectibles, and character-specific interactions create situations where actions must be performed in a particular sequence.
