Flatworld

Getting better with each episode! It's not excellent at any particular area, but it delivers fairly well in all of them. There's a little mystery that keeps you hooked, new mechanics are introduced pretty often, and it makes the most of them. Buy it before the price raises again with the next episode's release!!!

This is an RPG where you don't have to be strong to win, and it takes inspiration from Golden Sun and The Legend of Zelda. SLIGHT SPOILER WARNING THAT HAPPENS NOT EVEN LIKE, 2 MINUTES INTO THE GAME, JUST SKIP TO THE NEXT PARAGRAPH JUST IN CASE. The events of this game happen in Flatworld, a parallel world to ours which is flat, and it stars Aki, a guy who is from our world, but while trying to look for his father in the Ghost offices (Ghost is a mobile phone company that wants to exploit Flatworld, and it's the company Aki's dad works for), he accidentally ended up in Flatworld. Overall, it's a pretty good game, and I actually follow the main developer on YouTube (His videos are in Spanish), and that's how I found out about this game. TL;DR: This is an RPG where you don't have to be strong to win, there's some mystery with the main character and I follow the devs on YouTube.

Flatworld is a charming indie JRPG that punches well above its weight for a solo-developed project — the Zelda-style dungeons and puzzles kept me engaged throughout, and the humor lands more often than not with its mix of anime references and internet jokes. The characters, especially Hikari, have real personality, and the story does a decent job of keeping you curious about what comes next. That said, some gameplay quirks are worth noting: you can't skip cutscenes, puzzles occasionally reset if you leave an area, and combat feels a bit clunky since you're locked to attacking in the direction you're facing. The first chapter runs about 4-5 hours, and knowing future episodes are free makes the asking price feel very fair. If you enjoy classic JRPGs or grew up on Zelda, this is absolutely worth picking up — especially now before the price goes up with each new episode.
