[ENG] Flipon is a really great match 3 game. The game is visually cool, the music perfectly matches its style, and the gameplay is frenetic. It also has a story, but it doesn't need one. Its campaign mode provides countless hours of fun. You travel to 7 planets, each with between 15 or 20 stages. The levels have different objectives; the mechanics are always the same, but sometimes you'll have to survive for a minimum amount of time, reach a certain score, solve a puzzle, and finally defeat the planet's boss in combat. In addition to the campaign, there are other game modes, including the essential versus mode to smash your friends (4 at a time), a level editor (you can create them and save), challenges of varying difficulty, endless mode, and more. Despite the amount of match 3 games, their quality varies drastically. Looking back, I would undoubtedly highlight Columns for the legendary Game Gear (1989), Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo for the Arcade (1996), Lumines for PSP (2005), and Zoo Keeper for Nintendo DS (2005). Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is available on Steam as DLC within Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium. Lumines has a remastered version and a newly released game, Lumines Ar…9 found this helpful
This is a really fun Tetris Attack clone. If they ever thought about making a sequel, the only real change I would make is giving this game a retro aesthetic and make the story more involved because everything else about this game is absolutely spot on. The gameplay is as good as Tetris Attack and with the different modes all included in the campaign, more varied than Tetris Attack. Even though there is plenty of content and it's cheap, I would always be down for more. I loved this game - highly recommended.
Flipon is a vibrant and energetic arcade puzzle game that proudly wears its inspirations on its sleeve while still managing to carve out a personality of its own. Developed by Pixelnest Studio and published by TyGAMES, the game channels the spirit of classic block-matching puzzle titles and injects it with modern pacing, expressive visuals, and a generous variety of modes. From the very first moments, it establishes itself as a fast, colorful, and immediately engaging experience that values momentum and player creativity over slow, methodical problem solving. At the core of Flipon is a deceptively simple mechanic built around “flipoblocks,” which players must align by color to clear them from the board. While the basic action of flipping and matching blocks is easy to grasp, the game quickly reveals its depth through the way blocks stack, fall, and interact with one another. Chain reactions become the heart of high-level play, rewarding players who think ahead and plan multi-step clears rather than simply reacting to the immediate board state. The pace is brisk, often demanding quick decisions and sharp reflexes, especially as later stages introduce tighter timing windows and more…
I've been looking for a modern replacement to Puzzle League and I'm happy to have finally found a good one!! The addition of powers is a fun extra.
This is a puzzle in the same vein as Tetris attack/ panel de pon/ puzzle league, which was popular in the 90s and early 2000q but has somehow not had many relevant entries. Most reviews on steam appear to be from people who were really into the aforementioned series and are looking for more of the same. As a result, many reviews boil down to "This game isn't the other game I played", ven though it's not wildly off either. I only had a casual interest in the source material, so I don't consider myself to be too attached to the past entries, and I can say that I greatly enjoyed what I played. I managed to beat the story without too much difficulty barring the odd issues clearing versus stages. However, the game offers more levels once you clear the story mode and I found the difficulty spike to bee a little too steep, as if there could be another set of levels to bridge that gap. The above doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the game, but it may be a warning to anyone wanting to 100% the trophies, as you do need to beat all the 115 levels to get it. In terms of gameplay, I played with a controller and found the controls to be responsive. All in all, I consider this game to be w…
I am not familiar with the genre, so I tried to give the game a chance on its own. I should have listened to the reviews from genre fans pointing out the flaws. The fact that you cannot move blocks into where you just cleared is very unsatisfying, like you're constantly making small disjointed moves instead of a flowing chain of moves. The campaign is not very interesting. Some stages are so easy that they are completely pointless. For example there was one that I think was supposed to teach me about the speed up mechanic and combo multiplier, but I cleared it in 3 seconds just dragging the first things I saw. Maybe there is something there for experienced players in other game modes, but I don't really feel like fighting my boredom to find out (or be disappointed). Wish I'd tried it when I bought it so I could refund.
