About Forgotten 23

The Forgotten, a remote space station over Proxima Centauri b, is broadcasting a distress signal. With its orbit decaying, it's a matter of time until it crashes into the surface of the planet below. Only one person can avert a catastrophe: Engineer Max Novak, who just arrived at the station aboard a rescue ship and is immediately thrown into a life or death situation: The station’s crew has disappeared without a trace and the station is about to deorbit.
Max is caught in a relentless time loop with just 23 minutes until the Forgotten crashes into the surface of the planet—each cycle resetting just before the catastrophic descent. Every loop reveals new clues and challenges, pushing him closer to unlocking the station’s hidden secrets. Forgotten 23 is a dark sci-fi adventure where time is on your side - until it isn't. Navigate the station, master its secrets, and avert catastrophe before time runs out... Permanently.
 • Gritty sci-fi adventure set on a remote research station around Proxima Centauri b, where nothing is what it seems and everything is suspect. What is the source of the time loops? What's their relation to the planet? Just what or who is responsible?
 • Deep story layered with intrigue, tension, and unspeakable secrets better left forgotten. What happened here? Can you trust the sole survivor, the Luna AI controlling the space station? Just what kind of forces are at play here?
 • Eight researchers worked on a secretive research project, away from prying eyes and human colonies. All eight have disappeared and it's up to you to help Max discover the reason behind their vanishing - and learn all about their lives, fears, and hopes regarding the secrets of Proxima Centauri b.
 • Unique time loop-based gameplay requiring you to master the station's layout, mechanics, and secrets to progress in every 23-minute loop. Every loop is a step forward - but are they truly loops? The station changes slightly with every one, bringing with it new challenges - and new threats to solve.
 • Complex puzzles require careful thinking, use of the environment, and clever crafting using extremely limited supplies. Fix malfunctioning subsystems, debug broken robots, deal with corrosive poisons in the air that can penetrate your space suit - and worse.
 • An uniquely Polish take on the sci-fi genre, inspired by classics of the sci-fi genre, including the seminal works of Stanisław Lem.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the game's engaging time-loop concept and intriguing story, with particular praise for what a solo developer has achieved, though some find the premise more linear than truly loop-based. Common complaints center on repetitive mechanics that break immersion, various bugs including controller support issues and UI glitches, and excessive repetition of actions across levels that can feel tedious despite the compelling narrative.

Cool idea, price fair. The gameplay reminds me of Terraformental by Shadowsand. Some loops are pretty short could be merged to not break the immersion with reset. This would be perfect with controller support/controls.

Tried it because I am a sucker for time loops. But this feels much more like a linear sequence of timed levels masquerading as a loop, and at least the first two levels before I got tired of it weren't sufficiently challenging or interesting either. There were also minor glitches. If you want a proper time loop space mystery, go play Outer Wilds instead.

The concept of the game is very promising and engaging. It keeps you waiting for another twist, more answers, next changes in the environment. It's a very solid game for a single developer. Many on-man-teams do not achieve even 30% what this game does. Of course, there are rough edges which require polishing like interaction prompt blocking dialog sometimes. There are also many questions left unanswered which should be like
what actually did happen to Max before the expedition.
Overall this game is worth its price in my opinion.

I made a few attempts at this game, but in the end curiosity won. What annoyed me was that some things kept repeating over and over. I understand the idea of a “loop,” but at times there was just too much of it, and entering the same code at every level exhausted me existentially. BUT! This is a game made by a single developer, and it tells a cool story. Despite those few things, I didn’t give up and managed to experience Max’s story all the way to the end. although I only saw one ending xD A perfect little game for one or two evenings. I just hope an update comes out that won’t force the repetition of some actions 😄 Great job, Mr. Koval.

I bought this game because it genuinly looked awesome and the loop aspect sounds really fun. This game's story and gameplay is actually really enjoyable, which makes this next part quite sad. It has a few bugs, some that are gamebreaking. Bugs: Controller support is wacky. After visiting certain computers a small black rectangle is in the middle of the screen The leveling task in module 05 is just not working as it should. Just gotta spam and hope it gets validated. When pressing remove 3L from largest it only removes 2L... Sometimes the interact button is above the dialouge window even though you're not close to anything interactable. This game has great potential and I would still recommend it, but the bugs are sometimes quite annoying. But at the same time, what can you expect from a solo dev. He made this game good!
