✦ AI summary
Players praise Fork-U's realistic forklift physics, smooth performance, and accessible low-poly visuals, with real-world operators appreciating its accurate simulation. However, the game lacks depth beyond basic pallet-moving tasks—there's no scoring system, progression goals, or meaningful gameplay variety—and players note the developer appears to have abandoned the project in favor of other work, leaving it feeling more like an incomplete sandbox than a finished game.
UPDATE: We now have controller support, so the game is now a 12/10. As a real life operator, this is the perfect videogame. I cannot recommend it enough. Visually, the simple low-poly style and cutesy design of the products and machines are easy on the eyes and the GPU. I'm running at a rock solid 120fps at all times. From an audio perspective, the machine itself sounds great. The backup alarm is realistic, but not too grating to listen to for long periods of reversing. The music is a little bit "Amazon Product Video" sometimes, but nothing criminally annoying. This strikes me as a podcast or spotify playlist in the background game anyway. It would be nice to have a couple more collision sounds for the items in the world, but again, it gives more than enough feedback to let you know you're about to crush a pallet of paint cans. The controls are really the only area where there is a need for improvement. The keyboard and mouse controls are simple, easy to understand, and feel great; but there is currently no controller support. Hopefully that will change because this is a perfect game to kick back from the desk and zone out for a while with a controller. (Also, this seems like…9 found this helpful
This game is actually a pretty decent representation of operating a lift! The physics are fairly accurate. The forklift controls fairly well and you can feel the weight of the machine. The pallets will shift weight and bounce if you drive too fast or are too aggressive with picking them up. It actually feels like you're driving a lift! The three biggest gripes are with the forklift functionality itself and the camera. You cannot adjust the distance between the forks on a normal lift to bring them closer together or further apart, depending on your needs. Also, you cannot shift the forks/mast left or right to make small adjustments when moving a pallet. From a camera perspective, you can't move your head around when in first person. You can spin your head and tilt it upwards, but in a normal scenario you have to move your head around to see beyond the forklift's mast. It's extremely hard to see the top rack when in first person, so if you could move your whole head backwards, forwards and side to side it would be a wonderful addition. Going third person does alleviate this, but it kind of feels like cheating at times. Overall, I know this is lengthy for a forklift sim, …3 found this helpful
I can't recommend Fork-U, even though I really want to. In its current form is more like a proof-of-concept or a sandbox than a game and unfortunately the developer abandoned this project. (The last update is from November 15, 2024 and it seems like they are focusing on their new game) I hope some day they will return to this game and finish it as it has a lot of potential. The Good: - It runs well on Steam Deck (~30FPS with maxed-out graphics) - Great physics, forklift controls and base game mechanics. - Realistic scenarios. You don't have to collect letters and jump over buildings with 210km/h like in other forklift games :) The Bad: - There is no actual gameplay apart from "Put these pallets to their place". There is no any scoring or assessment. There are no safety rule violations, no damage modeling. - There is not much content. Only 12 levels on 3 locations and an additional endless mode where you only unload and load trucks over and over again. If you are familiar with such games you can probably finish it in 2-3 hours max. - You have to put every pallet to a specific location but this location is only revealed when you pick up the given pallet so you can't optimize your l…
Screenshot isn't even whats in the game. Just the same crap over and over. No skill required.
Played all of the levels as of 28DEC2024, definitely fun but needs a lot of work before reaching the value for its current asking price. Pretty cool that the levels evolve as you progress but missing basic features like achievements, customization, and level editor. Multiplayer would be awesome addition one day.
