Frontier Outpost

Look i don't mean to be rude since this seems sincere, but this is not worth recommending imho since it feels like an asset swap with every single audio and visual fx the engine can muster in boring hallways with very loud, very obnoxious jump scares and no sense of pacing, premise, or personal touch. there's just such better options out there, even free, and even if you are looking for something jank to have fun with this aint it. to the developer: i appreciate the effort and sentiment you put on the credits page, but i think you need to go back and start smaller. if you really want to make games i applaud it, but its hard work. no shame in starting small, learning basic dode and building basic environments and getting the hang of things. if you join a team, fine, but every team member has ideas, you gotta bring more than desire and ideas.

Bad gim

Frontier Outpost is a short first person horror game that puts me inside an abandoned military base where my main goal is simply to survive and get out. The story starts with a curious child entering a restricted military area, and things quickly turn into something much darker. I like the basic setup because an abandoned military facility is a good place for a horror game, especially when I do not know what happened there or what I am going to find around the next corner. The atmosphere is probably the strongest part for me. The game uses a realistic first person presentation and a military setting to make the environment feel grounded before the horror starts taking over. Exploring empty areas of the base gives me a decent feeling of isolation, and the game does a good job of making me wonder what is waiting ahead. The horror is mainly built around fear, blood, strange events and sudden scares rather than complicated combat or a huge collection of mechanics. That works well for a game this short because I can focus on exploring and trying to understand what is happening. Very broken

Playtime is definitely not 1.5 to 3 hours. It is more like 30 minutes or less. Visually and sound wise, it gets tiring really quickly. I wish the sound was more than just our guy breathing and monsters screaming. When they chase you, there is no music or even footsteps. They just scream once and chase you. Honestly, the game scared me a good couple of times. Even with those issues, it is worth playing for one reason alone. You have to play until you see the big monsters booty cheeks. That part is amazing enough to make the whole game worth it.
