About Future Fragments - Command Z
Command Z Presents Future Fragments a virtual reality installation created by Michael Ziga with soundscapes by Silvio Buchmeier. Connor Hanwick, and Palmer Foote. The virtual gallery places participants in three successive museum spaces, filled with sculptures reimagining classical figuration, gothic aesthetic, and modernist forms. The viewer is encouraged to interact with the relics by throwing them across the spaces towards destruction, contrary to traditional museum experience. The works are designed using 3D scans anonymously taken from The Metropolitan, Louvre, Uffizi, and Acropolis museums. The scans were digitally manipulated to create new sculptures from old, building the future from fragments of the past.

Игра 'Future Fragments - Command Z' предлагает интригующий, хотя и несколько запутанный, опыт. Сеттинг постапокалиптического будущего, где выжившие сражаются за ресурсы и правду, затягивает с первых минут. Механика управления базой, хотя и не самая инновационная, выполнена добротно и позволяет почувствовать себя настоящим командиром. Боевая система, в основе которой лежат тактические сражения с использованием различных юнитов и их уникальных способностей, достаточно глубока и требует стратегического мышления. Однако, кривая обучения довольно крутая, и поначалу разобраться в хитросплетениях умений и характеристик может быть сложно. Сюжет, хотя и интересный, страдает от неровного повествования. Иногда темп ускоряется, и игрока заваливают информацией, а иногда наоборот - затягивается и становится монотонным. Графика и звук выполнены на достойном уровне, хотя до AAA-проектов им далеко. В целом, игра оставляет положительное впечатление, но требует от игрока терпения и желания разобраться в её особенностях. Рекомендовано любителям тактических стратегий с постапокалиптическим сеттингом.
Future Fragments - Command Z is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this "art experience". Instead of being a game, Future Fragments - Command Z is a software application that presents a poorly made art exhibition. We get this non-game shovelware on Steam whenever your usual Starbucks barista/McDonalds frycook art school dropout finally gets a restraining order from the local art galleries so turns to Steam Direct to try get their art published somewhere so they can finally dream of moving out of their parents basement. It's true that games can be art... art is where the pinnacles of craftsmanship and quality meet vision and narrative to create an experience far greater than the sum of the parts. This isn't a game at all, and the craftsmanship and narrative are terrible. This isn't making art better, it's just making gaming worse. Troublingly the "developer" of this garbage seems to have proudly taken unauthorised "anonymous" scans of buildings and artwork to make this derivative claptrap. It's a pretentious train wreck from "artists" huffing their own supply, oblivious to the real world and what gamers actually like…
