About Galacticare

You are the Director of Galacticare; manage your own interstellar healthcare company and (try to) save the Galaxy - just make sure to get paid first!

 • Design, furnish, and upgrade your hospital.
 • Hire doctors with distinct traits and backgrounds.
 • Keep everyone relatively content by satisfying their various needs.
 • Build and improve experimental treatment facilities.
 • Meet and recruit a variety of unique Consultants (DJs, monks, you name it!)
 • Explore their mechanics, levelling choices, and personalities.
 • Consultants stay and grow throughout the campaign, unlocking new skills and playstyle options as you progress.
 • Discover, research, and cure alien conditions.
 • Treat patients of all shapes and sizes: from puppy-sized lemurs to entire planets.
 • Provide healthcare for musical festivals, deep-space prisons, communal space farms, and industrial disasters; or go wild in sandbox mode.
 • Develop your relationship with each species, earning rewards from their respective cultures.
 • Use holographic doctors, short-range teleporters and subspace portals to micromanage your hospital’s performance.
 • Upgrade rooms, read the thoughts of everyone aboard your station and purchase equipment from a colossal wandering trader.
 • Raise your Hospital Rating - the only goal that truly matters.
Galacticare takes you on a colourful and bizarre journey - from humble beginnings orbiting 23rd-century Earth, to the internal world of an extra-dimensional deity.

It’s time to save the galaxy - one patient at a time!

I was worried about buying Galacticare because I had read some reviews about crashes and bugs, but I’m happy to say that for me the game played all the way through to end credits. That was >100 hours of goodness for <$20 US after sale discount. The game did crash once (early in that period) and did require me to restart the final hospital (late in that period), and it had a few smaller bugs along the way, but none of the problems were gamebreakers or showstoppers. I created manual backups almost daily while playing but never had to use them. That ~100 hours of happiness gave me ~40% of the achievements, but many of the remaining achievements aren’t available without the expansion/DLC. I liked Galacticare so much that now I’m going to buy that “Voice Beyond” to play some more! (I wouldn’t recommend chasing the 5-star achievements unless you are really a perfectionist and completionist. In story mode, the effort between 4 stars and 5 stars felt huge – only 3 of my 11 hospitals got to 5 stars. I can’t imagine how hard are the “challenge mode” 5-star achievements!) Fans of Two Point Hospital will probably also enjoy Galacticare. :)

Feels like a lovely game with too many small bugs not ironed out (and since it's released for a couple years now, I'm curious to see why these issues are still here): having a lot of available seat spots but patients preferring to stand and then say that there's not enough seating places. Building a new room in a bought-extension place shows "blocked" by invisible objects that are not there. Patients going to the toilet pod twice or thrice even though the description says they are already going to a designated treating room and waiting timer started. I've only played the first story chapter. A lot of small things that really influence the user experience. I'll be keeping an eye on patches and bug fixes but for now it's a refund for me.

I LOVE this game. I want to marry this game. Can I marry this game, though? If you like Two Point/Theme Hospital and aliens, this is totally your jam. Voice acting incredible, humour incredible, some tiny bugs that can be worked around pretty easily. The only thing missing is more Doctor Who references, but hey, that's a personal unhealthy fixation.

It's a bit of a thumbs sideways for me. No bugs so far, and it's fun enough, but it's not super challenging, and I'm finding it a bit repetitive. Maybe there's not enough customisation of how the hospital looks, or it just lacks a little depth. Strange because I've played the Two Point games and loved them, and it's very similar to Theme Hospital / Two Point Hospital.
