We learn that to return to her dimension, she needs to collect stones that scattered around the area after her fall. So we put on a warm scarf and set off on the search. Предновогодняя сказка is a very short visual novel style adventure that I mostly enjoyed because of how simple and focused it is. I follow Violet, a Drow who somehow ends up in Russia in the early 2000s while searching for a missing piece of her family pendant. She is eventually found by Ivan, an ordinary guy who gets dragged into her situation. From there the game is mostly about getting to know the two characters, exploring a few locations and deciding how I want to handle the situations that come up. It is a small story, but the setup is unusual enough to keep me interested. The characters are easily the best part for me. Violet has a very different personality and background from Ivan, so their conversations have a nice contrast to them. I like that the game focuses on their relationship instead of trying to create some huge fantasy world with hundreds of characters. There are also a few funny moments mixed in with the more serious parts, which helps keep the tone light. The dialogue is definitely the main reason I kept going, because there is not much traditional gameplay here.
