Geneforge 4: Rebellion is an old-school role-playing game developed and published by Spiderweb Software, a studio renowned for creating expansive RPGs driven by player choice rather than technical spectacle. As the fourth chapter in the Geneforge series, it arrives at a pivotal moment in the saga, throwing players into a continent engulfed by revolution. Instead of serving the authoritarian Shapers as in previous adventures, players begin on the opposing side of the conflict, experiencing firsthand the growing resistance against a society built on the manipulation and creation of living beings. There's just something about the Geneforge series. There's something special here. Atmospheric. Unique. Memorable. Oddly nostalgic, even if you've never played it before.

That splash screen awoke something in me when I was younger. Much more compatible with modern systems than previous entries, and a more refined title in general. IIRC this is the first game where you actually access a Geneforge at the start of the game.

this game has no dang music and the ui is terrible

Classic old school RPG. Still holds up well if you are looking for nostalgic fun, or an immersive (largely text-based) adventure. The world-building is what really keeps me playing as the lore is well developed and engaging.
