Genesis of Drones

Genesis of Drones is yet another one of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of video games everywhere. This particular entry is essentially a dumbed down version of Super Mario Bros, with less interesting mechanics and a badly done shooter mechanism attached. The craptastic mess was assembled with Adobe Air, so it's basically a Flash game, and of worse quality than even a GameMaker Studio game (making up the bulk of the worst games on Steam). To underperform GameMaker Studio with a garbage Super Mario Bros ripoff is a grand failure indeed. The crux of the problem is a lazy, awful technical implementation. Resolution and controls are locked, and can't be changed or customised to improve the visuals or the control experience. They chose to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. While this is free, the overall quality is just so low it's not worth the time or effort …

Игра «Genesis of Drones» предлагает уникальный геймплей, сочетающий элементы стратегии и симуляции. Создание и управление дронами — ключевой элемент, где важно продумать тактику и ресурсы. Графика приятная, но не шедевр. Сюжет минимальный, акцент на механике. Подойдёт фанатам творческих проектов и стратегий. Однако сложность нарастает резко, что может отпугнуть новичков. В целом — интересный эксперимент, но с потенциалом для улучшения.

I loved this. It brings me back to my old NES days. I even love the soundtrack!
