Glass Wings

Purchased to support the developer on the 2.0 version. I really love Mirror's Edge style games and this could potentially be something that can revitalize the parkour genre.

Glass Wings is a short third-person parkour platformer that focuses on one thing: movement. There is no combat, no complicated story, and no huge open world. The entire experience is built around running through levels, jumping, sliding, and trying to keep your movement flowing smoothly. The best part of Glass Wings is the feeling of movement. The game clearly takes inspiration from parkour games and focuses on making traversal the main attraction. Running through the futuristic city environments, jumping across gaps, and smoothly chaining movements together can be satisfying when everything goes right. The minimalist world design is also one of the game's stronger points. The levels are built specifically for freerunning, with paths that encourage you to keep moving instead of stopping constantly. It creates a nice sense of speed and flow, especially when you learn the layouts and improve your runs. The biggest problem is the length. Glass Wings is more like a short proof-of-concept experience than a full-sized game. You can finish it fairly quickly, and once you have completed the levels there is not a huge amount left to do. This is terrible, not even worth playing for free due to how terrible it is. The entire thing is essentially the free [url=https://www.fab.com/listings/ef9651a4-fb55-4866-a2d9-1b38b028f9c7]Advanced Locomotion System v4[/url] asset from the Fab Store turned into a game. Now this would be fine if they went through at least the bare minimum effort to make this game fun, or flow well, but they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up on pretty much all ends. In case you're wondering how I know they used this asset, the name of the game is literally the name of the asset copied in twice, which makes me believe they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the importing process and had to try again, hence the double name in the .exe. Not really sure how this wasn't spotted since naming a project is quite literally the first thing learn to do as a gamedev, and you can also rename it when compiling it, but maybe I'm just unaware of the secret genius behind this asset flip. Do not get this, not even as a joke.

Pretty solid proof-of-concept. Ersatz Mirror's Edge, yes, but it's still enjoyable despite some quirks. Momentum is a bit... stumbly? With tighter controls and animations this would be a killer game. Eagerly awaiting the full version!
