About Goblin's Die

~ A quirky fantasy tale about the cannon fodder folk ~"Welcome to the Hive, fresh meat. All recruiting worker goblins must be this tall to die for the Goblin Leader’s filthy army. You’ll be distributed the standard issue loincloth and assigned to your first toiling duty. I’d learn to craft some better equipment asap, if I were you."

~ Take everything your sticky mitts can get a hold of ~"Your number one task, as a goblin worker, is to make our new Hive thrive like the glory days. Everything you find, grab it. Humans have left a ton of useful crap just lying around. Smash, rip, and loot. Don’t stop there — we need all kinds of materials for the Hive too. Mine, chop, and gather. And don’t forget the organs of your fallen enemies… they make fine cuisine."
~ Fortify your Hive and grow stronger alongside it ~"Sharing your loot is... optional — though it does help achieve our common goals. All valuables and little shiny things will be contributed to the Goblin Leader, right? Contribute for the good of the Hive, and we’ll make sure the Quartermaster provides everything you might need. Nice new facilities and goods will make the daily grind just a bit more tolerable."

~ Raise from the dingy thickets ~"Pioneer these new and uncharted lands with great caution. Even if we’re not yet at the bottom of the food chain, we’re getting pretty close. And from what I’ve seen, our neighbors are getting uglier by the minute.Which reminds me of your secondary objective. Try not to die for Skiggarath’s sake. Our mortuary expenses have reached their all-time high. The Goblin Leader is running low on workers as it is. All that highly lethal backbreaking toiling won’t just happen on its own."

~ Play solo or with up to 4 goblin friends online ~"To make your work more jolly, I would suggest you gather a crew of more or less trusted cronies. They might be worthless dirtbags like you, but there is still strength in numbers as they say. However, their main task will be to retrieve your stuff for the next guy from your very likely dead body.NOW GET TO WORK!"

✦ AI summary

Players praise this Dungeon Siege-inspired game for its charming art design, engaging cooperative farming mechanics, and relaxed pace that encourages casual play sessions with friends. Common complaints center on performance issues at high graphics settings, lack of controller support despite the couch-friendly gameplay style, and basic combat that some find slow-paced, though early players remain optimistic about its potential.

I don't usually do nostalgia. There's a few things that will get me. Dungeon Siege is one of them. And this game totally gives me this Dungeon Siege vibe in the best way. But it's not gonna be for everyone, because it is very calm, slow-paced game and combats are often one-on-one affairs. In full disclosure, several copies were given to my curator by the developer. I am not bought for the price of a game, so you'll get my thoughts below, as unvarnished as they are. The original Dungeon Siege was a game that demanded a lot of your time. It was a Diabloid, a game played from a 3/4s camera angle, all the action in realtime, and a special map for cooperative play. Each player had one character, who had only a very basic set of skills: a melee weapon, a missile weapon, or two spells. Very basic stuff. The trips between waypoints were long, might take an hour or more, or it felt like it anyway. Still, Dungeon Siege was weirdly charming and kind of chill, and before I convinced her to become my wife, I played this with my best gaming buddy for hours and hours on end. This game is a lot like that. It's really quite chill. Combat is slow-paced, almost methodical, an attack e…

I have played this one for just over 2 hours and so far I like it. **Art Design** The art design is fun and kind of silly, but in a good way. **Crafting and Progression** The crafting mechanics are pretty standard: gather and create. You do earn Hive EXP to level up your hive and this lets you level up your crafting benches. This EXP is earned by events in the world, missions, and donating items to the hive. **Music** The music that I have heard is somber and subdued. I don't mind it really. I only know what I have heard in the first area. **Controls and Combat** The controls are pretty expected for this kind of game. I DO want controller support though. I think it would help this game quite a bit. I want to play on my couch with my feet up. :) The combat so far is pretty basic, but I have only encountered three creatures. I expect that it will get more difficult and require more skill and fast roll moves as the game gets harder (controller please). **Technical Performance** I had one minor bug where it wouldn't let me craft food or build a bridge. This was fixed with a save and reload. I only saw this one time. Otherwise, no issues. **Value and Early Access** Price point is…

In just one session I can say this game is pretty fun. It's a blast to run around with buddies and farm for the hive. It's both casual and has had some pretty engaging gameplay moments finding enemies much stronger than we are. Excited to see how it grows.

I'm giving this game a negative review because it seems unfinished and it seems as if it's been abandoned after a few months. Maybe the developer is busy with other things, and that's understandable. Using the controller is broken. The game still shows the keyboard buttons to press while using the controller and screens behind other screens are being highlighted. I played it with the keyboard and mouse and got bored quickly every time I started it up. Needs work. This game desperately needs full controller support in order to be fun. That's just my opinion. I'll definitely remove my review when these glaring issues are taken care of. Peace.
