About Gods vs Horrors
Gods vs Horrors is a drafting roguelike focusing on synergies, scaling, and positioning. You'll need to adapt to the choices offered and enemy compositions. Recruit and dismiss Gods, reroll your options, increase your devotion level to get access to more powerful Gods, and fight Cosmic Horrors in automated no-RNG battles.
- Take synergies and scaling to another level. Each roll could deliver the final piece for your build or enable a crazy change in your composition.
- Spend your divine essence to strengthen your army now or use it to increase your devotion level and gain access to more powerful Gods later. Balancing short-term survival with late-game power is key to creating an unstoppable build.
- Position your Gods to counter the enemy's formation and composition. Combat is automatic, easy to follow, and deterministic (no RNG). It can be sped up or slowed down as desired.
- Create unique builds with 170 gods from 10 mythologies, 90 blessings (in-run buffs), and 30 relics to customize your runs. Unlock options through play, increasing the variety of available choices without power creep (horizontal meta-progression).
- Fight against 6 different bosses, each with their cast of allies and environmental effects, requiring you to devise specific strategies to beat them. Once you've mastered them you can play the Unknown Calamity mode to face against a mix of horrors from all campaigns.
- Apply difficulty modifiers to challenge your decision-making.

Like many autobattlers, once the combat starts, there is not way to control the flow of battle - everything is decided in the preparation stage. In that stage players buy cards (gods) to make up an army to battle with. There is strategy involved in what gods to buy and where to position them as well as when to upgrade to the next tier of gods. While there are combos, the build up to them can be slow and quite manual. For example there is a relic that that gives stats of bought gods, which means you will be buying and selling gods every round, which can be a bit tedious. The bosses offer unique challenges and can test the knowledge of the game, even if sometimes they do feel like sudden roadblocks (2nd boss I'm looking at you). Content wise, it has a decent amount of gods from different pantheons, and scaling difficulty for those that want to pursue it. Overall, there are not many things to b…1 found this helpful
This game is by and large stat checks, with the first three bosses so far just being "bosses" because they have big numbers. Weirdly steep scaling curve that ends up meaning instead of exploring various mechanics you're mostly just trying to rush your scaling high enough to have a bigger number than the boss.
Great
I really want to like this game. So much content and so little will to actually go through it. It always feels like, every time I manage to build a team that feels good to play, I'm right before the boss fight. Endless mode should've helped with this, however, the difficulty increase is so broken that you can at most fight 2-3 more rounds before it's game over.
Gods vs Horrors is a clever fusion of roguelike progression, auto-battler strategy, and mythology-themed team building that delivers a surprisingly deep and rewarding experience. Developed and published by Oriol Cosp Games, the title places players in charge of assembling divine forces from various mythological traditions to defend humanity against waves of nightmarish cosmic entities. While its premise is simple to grasp, the underlying systems create a layered strategic challenge that constantly encourages experimentation and adaptation. At the heart of the game is its roster-building mechanic. Players recruit gods with unique abilities and traits, gradually crafting a team capable of surviving increasingly difficult encounters. Every choice carries weight because the effectiveness of a run depends heavily on discovering powerful combinations between units. Rather than focusing on individual strength alone, the game rewards players who understand how abilities interact with one another. This emphasis on synergy transforms even routine decisions into meaningful strategic considerations and gives each run a distinct identity. One of the game's strongest features is its resource e…
Surprisingly good, just also pretty hard and frustrating bashing your head against the bosses. The UI and tactile response is very well implemented, feels great to play and drag tiles around, and the game has more decision making than you may expect. Losing to a boss a dozen times in a row despite differing strategies because you couldn't pull the right piece to get the deck above the hump sucks a lot though and feels less like a punishment for skill and more like a punishment for commiting to a deck type that the game didn't feel like giving you the pieces for anymore after you're long past pivoting.
