About Golden Warden

Golden Warden is a rogue-like battle game set in a dungeon generated like the Japanese board game of sugoroku. Choose Action Cards that combine dice movement with various attacks using swords, magic, bows, bombs, and even blunderbusses. Conquer dungeons full of traps that change each time you enter. Get upgrades, collect gold to strengthen your weapons, take down (or avoid) enemies, and aim for the depths of the dungeon to claim the treasure that Golden Warden is said to guard.

Action Cards

Choose one Action Card each turn that combines movement and attack. Choose wisely as it's what will get you out of your predicaments!

Dungeons of Tiles

The dungeons are filled with tiles containing various effects. Use the effects of the tiles to your advantage and wipe out the enemy.

Varying Playstyle

As you progress through the dungeon, you can acquire new weapons and upgrades, gradually morphing the way you play. Find the playstyle that suits you and aim for the dungeon's depths.

✦ AI summary

Golden Warden is a clever linear roguelike with satisfying, strategic gameplay where positioning and dice rolls determine your movement and combat success. Players consistently praise the surprising depth and charm despite the simple single-line mechanics, with many finding it rewarding to master the timing and positioning system. The main criticisms revolve around occasional balance issues with relics and cards, and the mental math required during gameplay, though most players find these minor enough that they don't significantly detract from an enjoyable, bite-sized experience.
A Small And Interesting Roguelike Gem.

Things I Like About Golden Warden:

Gameplay: For a game that only happens on a single file line, Golden Warden exudes a surprising amount of depth and charm. Characters move by using the dice number rolled on cards. You can only move from left to right. Grids have icons that trigger when you stay on the grid, so you should pay attention to them when choosing dice numbers. Enemies stand in your way and will cue up their attacks when they see you. Since you can't turn back, you need to be careful about the movement. Position yourself correctly so you can make the best of your attack. It's very similar to Shogun Showdown in terms of mechanics. All these designs add up to deliver quite an interesting experience.
Slash: Here's an interesting mechanic. When you bump into enemies, you will slash enemies via converting all movement (the number range each die can roll) into damage and pass through. This design alone plays an important role in both the gameplay. Slash is a great way for you to get out of sticky situations and to deal with groups of enemies when you roll a high number on the dice. For buil…

Game's fun. Sometimes I found myself in unwinnable positions, but not often and usually it's my fault. Good game, enjoyed playing through it.

I enjoyed it. Give it a shot and play the demo. If you like it, the full game has enough to be worth your time.

Golden Warden's gameplay is a bit on the simple side, but it's quite neat. It feels very satisfying to go from having to count your every step, to mowing down a row of enemies with a well-timed combo and one-shotting a boss phase. The biggest gripe I have with this game is the relic and card balancing, but even then it's managable. Overall, a neat little and not-too-hard roguelike.

Pretty fun and simple game but it deals with math. I had to do so much mental math. I mean I could but... eitherway, had fun :D
