About Guard of Wonderland VR
Guard of Wonderland is a VR-novel created from our inspirations of "Alice in Wonderland"; a tribute of respect and love for the author's talent. Here is the atmosphere of absurdity and, at the same time, the beauty of the world in the book, but with new characters and an unconventional look at the story of Wonderland. Adventures will reveal a terrible story, where phantasmagoria, influenced under the impression of the book, intertwines with the eerie reality of our world!
USP project:
♛ The world's first visual novel in virtual reality, dedicated to the world of Alice in Wonderland!
♟ The insane journey through the phantasmagoria of Wonderland
♞ The plot presented in verse and visual images
♜ Interactive gameplay with bosses
♝ Several alternative endings that depend on your actions in the game
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
I like VNs. I thought a VN in VR just made too much sense and was excited about an Alice in Wonderland iteration. However, I had to refund because it had two major problems that I couldn't look past. The big problem is that the text is in the way of the scenery. There's this big block text just blocking your view of what's going on. You have to press X to hide the text so you can enjoy the art. However, if your press A you fast forward all the dialogue, very nice indeed... not. Why couldn't there be bubble texts above the characters? I'm sure it could be done in a way where you could still read the text. Honestly, though, I think the text needs to be narrated. The second problem is the combat. Yes there's combat in this VN. It's super clunky and boring and there's way too much of it. You point and click left or right trigger while stepping left or right to avoid attacks. The first time is okay. The second time is still okay. The third time is okay .... the fourth time is like ... wtf. The fifth time is like ...seriously, this sucks. The sixth time I was like I think I am refunding. So that's what I did. I'm sorry.…15 found this helpful
It's basically the VR version of reading a pop up book, a VN that misses the mark with huge text boxes that get in the way, boring gameplay and terrible combat with a step left or right while clicking cutting or chopping. Gameplay video: https://youtu.be/Wb3c_9Ya_-Y VN's in VR need to think how they are going to take the reader into something new and exciting, not just be a popup book in VR. Only see real fans of Alice in Wonderland getting into this7 found this helpful

Played on HTC Vive. There are two characters. Played one story through in 15 minutes (didn't read the story - played for experience). Killing part is too easy
(hit 2-3 times - mostly hit)
, defence is easy
(just step aside)
.
No movement even on the path she'is travelling, just standing and waiting for the opponents
. Left hand is basically useless. The text is headtracking. Played the other story through, too. Fights are the same, story is basically the same. Only difference is different allies, who don't do anything. Expected more of this game.1 found this helpful
Wonderland has never been like this before… These are the first words of trailer, which made me to chek up this game. Sooooo, impressions after 2hours: [+] POETIC narrative (!!) Exciting story WONDERFUL Art First VN in VR experience [-] Team need to improve controls Also, there are some issues about interface1 found this helpful
UI and text in this game is headtracked. If the text is not in your focal sweet spot, you are SOL.
