Players are divided on this pixel art side-scroller, with some appreciating its art style and survival difficulty, while most criticize it as repetitive and boring with fundamental design flaws. Common complaints include poor platforming design with inaccessible progression routes, clunky controls, a tedious loop of gathering food and returning to camp, and unbalanced combat that makes enemies more annoying than threatening. At its current state, many feel the $9 price point is not justified for what amounts to a shallow experience despite occasional moments of fun platforming.
it's a fast paced side scrolling pixel game. i wouldn't say it is a survival game really cuz you only need to build one fire per biome to cook meat to eat. and it is a poor platformer because 90% of the time the platform to the golden eggs are literally too tall and there is no way to progress. I guess since it is a new game i don't expect too much but eh idk not really worth $9 at the current state18 found this helpful

I can only say: It is a really good game.

I would not recommend this game what-so-ever. The controls aren't too clunky and the platfoming can be fun at times but Habitus suffers from a major fundamental issue. It's boring. Like really boring. Watching paint dry would be more exciting than playing this poor excuse of a game labeling itself as "entertainment". You run around a randomly generated level looking for sources of food to bring back to your camp so you can end the level and do it all over again. It's repetitive and dull. Like I said, the platforming can be fun at times but that is all this game has going for it. The enemies are more annoying than threatening and the random level generator doesn't seem to be optimized too well, as levels often have long narrow tunnels leading no where. It's tagged as "survival" but I think that's a bit far-fetched. Yes, the whole premise is about being a cave man and trying to find food to survive, but the food in the game might as well be a score because it's only purpose is to be an arbitrary goal for the level. Their is nothing to the food counter other than that. Habitus is as much of a survival game as super mario brothers is. Nothing new is going on in this game, it's a drag …3 found this helpful
It's a relatively frustrating game. Control wise I often found myself stuck moving left/right for no reason. Tossing the spear is always an event of tossing it way too high meaning you'll typically need to attack from a range. You'll encounter tiny enemies that makes it all very worthless. Just.. not fun at all.
