In HACK.BAK, the group F.I.S.H (Frivolous Information Sealing Hackers) have encrypted your precious data. They've left you the tools you need to find the key, but they're spread across a network of servers, routers, and other devices. Your job is to find the commands, traverse the network, and unlock your data.
Key Features
- Terminal-based Gameplay: Enter commands like you would in a linux terminal or windows command prompt. Supports tab-completion and command history.
- Procedurally Generated: No two games are exactly alike. The order you'll find the commands and the layout of the network will change with each new game.
- Network Size Options: Choose from a small, medium, or large game. The network map doubles in size with each increase.
- Decryption Puzzle: Solve a bitmask puzzle to decrypt commands, but if puzzles aren't your thing, feel free to turn it off in the options.
- Flexible Control Options: The game is fully controllable using just the keyboard, but that doesn't mean you have to. The game has controller support (native Xbox controller or Steam Input) as well as mouse support (with limited keyboard requirement).
All actions can be performed using the context menu via menu-key (or shift+F10), controller "Context Menu" binding, or mouse right-click.Use your mouse, numpad directional, or controller joystick to navigate the network.

update: dev please if youre reading this and had any thought of doing so, please continue to update this game. i can think of so many incredibly fun and cool ways this game could expand and could not only suggest them but even ideas of how you could implement them in your games design sds from my time programming. please let me know if you see this love letter to your amazing game <3333 oh wow this game is incredible and so engaging and addicting, if you like playing around in the terminal and playing around with commands in the context of trying to puzzle out learning new commands then you will love this game. even if you dont have more than a passing interest in programming or messing around in the terminal, if you enjoy the concept of hacking and crawling through network layers of file structures and terminals to deduce what happened to your characters personal files and data; you will love this game. it seems small, but there is a deceptively remarkable amount of depth here in this really really fun, cute, and cool game. a roguelite in terminal was the last thing i expected to find and didnt know i needed to enjoy rn -- and if you think it looks cool, you absolutely need to g…4 found this helpful

pretty fun. feels like an old school dungeon crawler looking for keys. would like to see this expanded a bit. definitely worth the small price tag. quick note: each new game is essentially a dungeon. so the small,medium and large is the depth of the dungeon. large being the most complex to navigate.
