Hacker's Journey

I really wanted to like this game but the user experience is very lacking. Within the first few minutes of gameplay several issues become apparent: - Applications can only have one instance - Browsers only supports one tab - Browser history is buggy - Terminal commands are overly simplified - No ping command or lookup commands - Probably more but I lost interest at this point... If you are looking for a legal sandbox to play around with hacking, you will likely be disappointed :(

I am always looking for new hacking games to try out so I grabbed this during the recent Programming Fest for maybe 5 bucks and I think it's worth it for that. There's some scenarios in this one I've not seen attempted in others I've played, like building pretty legit looking Python syntax via a pseudo-code interface. I finished in about 2.5 hours and I suppose my main complaint is that it ends VERY abruptly. However the devs have also indicated plans to release more levels so I will look forward to playing those when they arrive and hopefully lead to a more satisfying conclusion.

was expecting to play this for like at least a 100hrs, but no, i get it tho things like this happen in real life too.....?

I was exited for this after reading the description and looking at the trailer, unfortunately the game didn't deliver on it's promises in my opinion. The tools and methods are "technically" accurate and if implemented in a more realistic matter it would be very exciting. However everything seems to be designed to be the bare minimum required for their on the rails story line to make sense. The terminal is lacking, networking "fake" and mostly redundant, and there is no real scripting or programming. You just "develop" using a guided application in game. They show many interesting concepts that would make the game great if fully developed, but instead the websites only the buttons that need to work for the story work and there's no real programming or even problem solving for most of the game. Just follow the instructions in the emails. I also did some poking around and found that the whole game is a webapp where everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is based on node. In other words the game is a browser game where the desktop, terminal, applications, everything is html, js, json and css. Which makes me seriously question their claim about AI generated content. Great game overall, a lot of small UI bugs not too important tho, lacks of autonomous work a lot of the tihngs we do is given in the mailbox only one mission we do alone. Would recommend its still worth the price and the time.
