Players acknowledge Half-Life: Source has fundamental issues including numerous bugs, poor controls, outdated graphics, and poor dodge mechanics that significantly hamper gameplay. However, some defenders find it enjoyable despite these flaws and appreciate it for historical or nostalgic value, though most recommend alternatives like the original Half-Life, Black Mesa, or Half-Life 2 instead, especially for newcomers to the series.
You can't buy this game directly. You either have to get a bundle with Deathmatch or buy another pack which contains it, such as the Valve Complete Pack. And for good reason too: the game is a buggy mess which I could only get through with mods. Your money is better spent on Half-Life (which got an anniversary update) or Black Mesa (a retelling of the story which was built specifically to run on Source). The only use I can think of for this is mounting it in Garry's Mod.1 found this helpful

This game is great* but if you are like a look and think person and think it's bad, that's ok. The game itself, good idea. What came out, was fine. Now, I am not saying the game is bad, I am saying it could still be better. Still great game, and you should buy it, *just don't introduce the series with this game. My suggestions on what games you should play is this order: HL1, HL1: Source, HL2, HL2:LC, HL2:E1, HL2:E2, HLA. Or put HLA in between HL1: Source and HL2. Really good game.

i know everyone hates it, but if you ingnor the bugs the game is fun
Graphics is pre grand pa but it was way ahead of it's time as a whole package. play it for nostalgic reasons, otherwise it isn't worth it, just play black mesa instead or wait for a reboot
