This award-winning expansion delivers a completely fresh single-player campaign that flips the script on the original game's perspective.
What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise Opposing Force as a strong entry in the Half-Life series with interesting weapons, creative enemy design, and a satisfying story that effectively shows the conflict from a soldier's perspective rather than the usual protagonist viewpoint. The main complaints center on difficulty balance—some find it too challenging even on easy mode—and occasional technical quirks like character collision issues, though these don't significantly detract from the overall experience for most players.
good
im playing all the half life games for the first time and something i've noticed is that this is the second time they have put me through torture and given me a easy and satisfying final boss and a actually intresting ending..well done valve/gearbox ALSO SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THIS PART!! i think it's smart that after the credits you regain control of adrian but he's in stasis so you see nothing and can move but you'll reach nowhere update: i found out it's a bug. but it's lore accurate anyways
I'd say this game is better than Half-Life; it has more interesting weapons, and while it being shorter is a pity, it does mean it doesn't overstay its welcoome. The final boss of the game is pretty lame, though it's better than Half-Life's, in my opinion.
A very fun classic.
For a while, I kept on avoiding the Half Life games made by gearbox as my experience with Borderlands 3 was nothing more than boredom and misery. However, this game, surprisingly, was great. It felt like Half-Life in the best way. The large sandbox was fun to mess around with and the enemies weren't terrible. The only real issue is that Shepherd has a tendency to stick to the elevator floor unless he is airborne at end of the elevator ride, but it's manageable. Well done Gearbox.
Great game. I Enjoyed every other Half Life thoroughly, it's Great to See a POV Of one of the HECU Marines. But it's just a Little too Difficult. Even on easy Difficulty I still found myself Dying a lot. All In all i rank this game an 8.5/10
