Halls of Torment: Prelude

Halls of Torment: Prelude is basically Vampire Survivors mixed with classic Diablo-style visuals, and somehow that combination works ridiculously well. The game throws you into massive waves of enemies and lets you slowly transform from a weak survivor into an unstoppable screen-clearing monster through upgrades, abilities, and absurd damage scaling. What immediately stands out is the atmosphere. Unlike most survivor-style games that go for bright arcade visuals, Halls of Torment leans heavily into dark fantasy aesthetics inspired by old-school ARPGs. The chunky retro visuals, gloomy environments, and constant flood of demons give the game a really satisfying “old Diablo but pure chaos” vibe. The gameplay loop is incredibly addictive. Every run gives you new upgrades, traits, abilities, and equipment combinations that can completely change how your build develops. Once synergies start coming together and the screen fills with explosions, projectiles, and hordes of enemies instantly melting, it becomes very hard to stop playing. Worst survivors game I've played, and that's a lot. Upgrades are all stat-based, no cool ability based stuff. I really don't know how this got by all the good iterations of the genre.

Halls of Torment offers tons of replayability with minimal fuss, and is just challenging enough to keep you engaged for every moment.

I play this game a lot at work on my steamdeck (lenovo legion go), and to be perfectly honest, it is super hard to put down once you start playing. It plays so smoothly, controls are simple and intuitive, easy to pause when something comes up or whatever. It just plays like it was made for a handheld, and I thoroughly enjoy it on mine.

Good. No really its good trust me and try play it. it gives you the nostalgic Diablo 2 feeling while in a game of vampire survivor. its good GOOD GooD GOod.

Killed myself in the first try. Was extremely boring..... no dodge and too long between actually getting a skill.
