actually horrible movement and combat you start with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slingshot that you have to rev up and practically play the game with baby oil ALL OVER YOU and the mechanics are so bad z/10 do not recommend this game doesn't even get a number that's how bad it is1 found this helpful
Falls off around 75% through the game and the boss fights aren't that good, but other than that I highly recommend. The aiming mechanic is cool and really helps set the game apart from other shooters. The atmosphere and tone of the game is really unique and is elevated fantastically by the music. Level design features a lot of verticality and sets a nice sense of scale. Using the pulley to rappel across levels and taking in the vistas, realising how far you've traversed and how much you've experienced, it's jaw dropping at points especially considering the low-fi graphics. It's simply incredible for a solo-dev project. I cannot begin to imagine the time and effort that was sunk into the development of this game, and I'm very happy to say it paid off.
The first two thirds are an actual masterpiece, 10/10, but that last third is plain misery and it just kept ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ going. The game really lingers in its final few levels and all the little quirks start to become major annoyances as the game drags on. The whole second half in general just turns into linear gimmick levels and bad boss fights. It completely saps the game's energy. And yet it keeps ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ going. You have to fight the village idiot 4 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ times in the final two levels and its not fun even once. The final one has this awful lead in too, where you have to defend some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ while he steals it every 5 seconds and enemies infinitely spawn. It sucks. It really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. Highly recommend outside that though. The first two thirds alone are absolutely worth playing this game for.
[CONTENT WARNING: THIS GAME REALLY LOVES THROWING SPIDERS AT YOU, BE WARNED IF YOU HAVE ARACHNOPHOBIA!] I came to this game after seeing a bit of it on MandaloreGaming's Review ages ago, and just took a long while to finally start it, but oh wow I'm glad I did! So, I will go through some bullet points about the game and my opinion: - SOUNDTRACK: I really like it, it's very subtle most of the time and not in your face, but they really sell that you're in a mystical and/or whimsical location, and it can get whacky and electrifying whenever the occasion calls for it - GRAPHICS: I love how beautiful the scenery is, even though the graphics are low fidelity, and I love how quirky the cast of characters are, with the way they look and move about. However, I will say that during some moments in dark areas (especially towards the end of the game), the lower-fidelity graphics do hurt the game a little bit because it gets a bit hard to see where you're going and/or my eyes had to be strained a bit - COMBAT: It's actually quite fun! At the start I wasn't a biiiiig fan of it, but it's surprising how fast you get used to how it works, and the game does a good job of spacing out n…
ride many different types of elevator, fight many different types of spider
Saw Mandaloregaming's review and had to give this game a shot. It's got great vibes, excellent soundtrack, satisfying exploration and gameplay. Pity the game is full of bugs. 9.5 out of 10. Would go for an enthusiastic walk in the woods again.
