Holodrive is an energetic 2D multiplayer shooter that combines arena combat with platforming-style mobility, weapon collecting, character customization, and a deliberately humorous presentation. Developed by BitCake Studio and published by Versus Evil, it revolves around customizable robots called Dummies that use jetpacks, firearms, explosives, and power-ups to tear through compact arenas. Holodrive is a fast little multiplayer shooter that mixes 2D platforming with guns, jetpacks and a ridiculous amount of explosions. I am controlling a robot called a Dummy and running around arenas trying to blow up the other side while grabbing weapons and using the map to my advantage. The basic idea is very easy to understand, but the jetpack movement gives it a different feel from a normal 2D shooter. I can fly around, use ramps, move through different parts of the arena and get back into the action almost immediately after dying. It is simple, chaotic and very easy to jump into. The movement is probably what I like most. Every Dummy has a jetpack, so I am not stuck fighting entirely on the ground. I can quickly move around the arena and use the vertical space to get behind enemies or escape when things get too dangerous. There are also teleporters and barriers that can change how I approach a fight. I like having these extra movement options because they make the arenas feel more active than a basic run and gun game. When I get comfortable with the movement, I can start using the map itself as part of my strategy instead of just looking for somewhere to stand and shoot. The …
