Honor Cry: Aftermath

Unfortunately, I couldn't bring myself to complete this game, due the intense amount of grinding. I get that it's a major selling point for many buyers, but I personally don't enjoy it. As I didn't get far, I can't really comment on the story/art, beyond that it's pretty much exactly what you see in the screenshots. The developer is really nice though, so maybe you should buy this game to support nice people? Idk.

RPG Maker strikes again! Honor Cry: Aftermath is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker, some software generated character images, coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. I am very disappointed in this game! This is the 4th RPG Maker game of this Dev! I went all thure the game with out any healing stuff? The cave map is the same as his 1st game : The Cavern of time??? YOur maping is even better now then the last 3. I love where you put black arrows telling us where to go to leave the maps. The Combat is way to hard even if you do not have no healing stuff. I always run away from battle b/c i did not have no healing!?!?!?! Come on SimProse I know you can done better then this. I love the story a little bit. I need more storys. Give us more lore. Let have towns we can go to and shop and talk to people to get lore. I am tired of my armor or weapons brecking. This game is even more bad then Cavern of time! I want to add more to this i will in due time. Is this replayable I say NO! it is not. I wouldn't recommend this game. Not my favorite genre to begin with to be fair, but combat felt tedious, grindy and repetitive. Enemies seemed to soak damage, it just took forever, felt poorly balanced especially for an initial experience. And combat triggered way too often, I couldn't even take two steps and back to the grind. No tutorials or course, but there were few options to use anyway so I could figure out what little was there I guess. Animations of the characters walking looked way off, sliding at a speed inconsistent with the steps they took. The art style felt inconsistent between the backgrounds and characters. On the plus side, I feel like quite some work went into the game, although that doesn't make it fun for me unfortunately.
