Salvation: Echoes of War

Salvation: Echoes of War will be a polarizing title due its heavy usage of AI: AI voice acting, AI music, AI cutscenes, AI image stills, etc. Quite a bold (and dare i say, ambitious?) choice to rely so heavily on AI for one's first release, particularly at a time when anti-AI sentiment is so strong. That said, I don't inherently mind the use of AI in games as long as it is done well. Was it done well here? **Mostly yes, and sometimes no.** The voice acting ranges from good to passable, the soundtrack is great, and the score ranges from mediocre to excellent. The cutscenes and flashbacks are generally well executed, although some still retain that unmistakable AI aesthetic one often sees with low-end image generators and/or unrefined prompts. At times, the artificiality is difficult to ignore. As for the actual gameplay, it is perfectly serviceable, albeit occasionally tedious. The inability to change keybindings is particularly frustrating, as one is forced to use the traditional inverted flight controls during the game's flight sequences. The games graphics was really attention grabbing and i really liked the gameplay, the story line is very interesting would 100% recommend other people to try this game

After a nice but rather uneventful opening stage where you fly a plane through enemy territory, you eventually get shot down. Shooting is possible, but there is little reason to do so. You manage to eject and parachute into the water below, only to somehow end up in a strange form of purgatory. As you walk through it, you see moments from your life, creating the feeling that your life is literally flashing before your eyes. The first impression will probably push away anyone who is not a fan of AI generated content. The game makes extensive use of it for cinematic cutscenes, flashbacks and various animations that appear while you play. The effect can be quite impressive, and the initial purgatory section is particularly well done. The soundtrack also deserves praise. It has a heavy metal undertone, and some stages have their own unique songs with lyrics that fit the scenes. However, the extensive use of AI also casts doubt over other parts of the game. The most obvious example is the voice acting. There is no indication that the voices are AI generated, but they sound strange and artificial, with very little emotion. Trash game, not recommended.

What surprised me about this game was the amount of gameplay variety throughout the game. Some of them are interesting and polished, others not so much. The story is ok, the main character is relatable, but the dog is even better. Flying was fun, especially in the last level, but it needs polish. Some puzzles our fun, others are just so easy to solve.
